500GFLOPS ? I never seen score like that even on my previous Aorus Master and previous 9900KS.
My memory now is 4000MHz with XMP, but lowered voltages and timings from 19-19-19-39-700-2 XMP to 18-18-18-39-700-2.
With 2133MHz memory I can score 300GFLOPS with 15-15-15.
I tested Prime95 with AVX too for 30min stable with almost the same temps.

I get 500+ gflops on my Master at 4.9 ghz with matching residuals but barely, and temps go past 105C in the process so I don't bother.
At 4.7 ghz, I get up to 493 gflops with more sane temps.

So....do I need to worry ?
I saw that RAM give alot of GFLOPS - for example today I tested 17-18-18 and I had almost 490GFLOPS but it wasn't stable.
Another thing - if something is working in background of LinX I can have worse score too - example - LinX and watching www in background - score about 430GFLOPS.

If the GFLOP value doesn't match your processor speed the test results are not valid. Which is the whole problem with LinX/Linpack. No other programs I am aware of seem to have this issue. If its worth it to fight memory timings to optimize for a program you'll never actually use outside of an arbritray stress test requirement is up to you.

Here's a thread from the EVGA forums where its discussed more and another from this site. TL;DR, a big portion comes down to tFAW and tRFC.

https://www.overclock.net/forum/5-in...l#post27739262

At 5.3Ghz with default memory timings I get about 305 GFLOPS. By using CptKuolio's memory timings I get 519-527 GFLOPS which still isn't quite there and the residuals don't match either. At 305 GFLOPS the hottest core was maybe 70c. When over 500 it was 90c. So again, if GFLOPS doesn't isn't in the expected range for your clock speed, the test results are not valid even if the residuals match.

With auto 5GHz on CPU, memory on 4000MHz with 18-18-18 and 38-600-2 (from 39-700-2) and LLC Ring from 4300MHz to 4500MHz changes are almost invisible - GFLOPS still about 470.

4300 to 4500 cache seems low. I'd set that to 4700.

600 or 700 for tRFC is high. Get that down to 320-360. Try making tFAW 16 and tRRD_S 4. Max out tREFI at 65535.

There are my results with just my 5.3Ghz overclock and default memory timings. Matching residuals but since the GFLOPS were so low compared to my clock speed it never got that hot.

My limit in running LinX as a stress test is in the memory timings. I think manufacturers use loose timings to make their memory more compatible.

Here is my new score with some tuning. Most importand is - I disabled all background programs - for mouse/keyboard and HWinfo. Score goes really high compared to previous.
I think it was main problem - background apps.
CPU - still on auto 5GHz, memory 4000MHz 18-18-18-38-400-2T (last time 18-18-18-39-700-2T). I tried in bios 40x100 for memory or 133x30 - score is the same.
PS. If HWinfo is monitoring in background during test I still have typical about 470GFLOPS even with better timings for memory and if I do something else during test like watching www - typical score is about 450GFLOPS.

Ok - one more test - this time IntelBurnTest and his GFLOPS (with HWinfo working in background):

And here - almost perfect - all tweaks as above plus CPU cache from 4300 to 4700MHz.
Summarizing - CPU 9900KS on auto - 5GHz, Cache - 4,7GHz, Vcore - 1,24V, VCCSA - 1,23V, VCCIO - 1,19V, DDR4 - 4000MHz 1,41V, 18-18-18-38-400-2T.
Rest of bios settings - auto. LLC - auto.
I think this is good point to start overclocking CPU ?

Yes, those are much better results. Good work, matching residuals and the proper GFLOPS.

Cooling will likely be your limit going forward. At 5.3Ghz LinpakExtreme will peak at 236A/306W on my machine at 551 GFLOPS. Residuals don't match though. I'm still working on getting my memory tuned. That's with HWInfo running but I have a lot of the sensors disabled. I wonder if that would impact scores.

My hottest core will hit 92c, but I'm delidded with direct die mount, lapped water block and die with a custom loop.
