Newegg just had a few 3950X in stock but at a price gouging $899. At that price you may as well just pick up the $1000 10980XE, o wait you can't buy it anywhere and haven't been able to. This has to be the worst paper launch I've seen. Intel did essentially 2 paper launches so far for the chip. Their 14nm shortages are very bad right now.

I feel you price gouging sux ballz big time. But its newegg so I understand. Best Buy is going to sell the 10980XE for 1000.99 and you can see it at their online store, and it just says sold out. Funny part is the 10980XE has never been launched, only utube reviewers get a free chip from AMD or Intel. Yes Intel has a shortage but what kind that you never see the 10980XE available anywhere,,, You can really find a 3950x ,, or barely find one and what not.

...complaining about it on this forum over and over does little good, as we're all in the same boat and many of us have learned how to deal with it. Complaining about it too much can be annoying to some though. While it tends to bring out the OCD in those doing the complaining, others might simply ignore such posts by way of the ignore (user) button, leaving such users to wonder why their posts are being ignored when and if they finally need real help.

Just being honest (and wise; as in old man or "okay boomer" wise).

Yes. I am a pro photographer covering mainly dog sports, but go to Florida for a few weeks in December to go birding.

I dealt with it well IMO

this is business as usual for these kinda SKUs. The biggest of the newest hotness = hard to make, with smaller demand than other segments.

the resellers have really low margins on these kinda items so a $150 tax isn't bad in comparison to what we've seen in the last 2-3 years. This is the only time they can get it, so they do.

you'd do the same if it was your store front only getting 100 at a time, and had people spamming your inbox with "PLEASE I'LL GIVE YOU DOUBLE, JUST LET ME GET ON THE LIST!"

this is why many of us stay a cycle behind. Makes things much easier, and you barely notice.

That comes to 450 watts full load @ 5Ghz. That is not bad at all. Plus I dont render so I will never use all cores,, maybe 4 or 8 cores at max. So Im gonna turn on Turbo Boost 2.0 and Turbo Boost 3.0 and make sure ram is proper speed and timings and that's all I'm gonna touch the BIOS with for now.

If you will never use all of the cores (or don't need them) why buy the chip in the first place? You can save a ton of money going to a lesser core chip.

Because he perceives a benefit from having “parked cores” and considers this a future proof solution cUz bandCamp will never use even half of the CPU.

Also, he composes on the same level as commander Data.

Head Room for future. Also allowing me to have a unlimited DAW experience. Load up like 100 VSTi's and plugins.. I would probably use 8 core on a project like that but if I need more I have the power of 10 more cores. Also I don't plan on upgrading for 10 years. Ive had my 4930k for almost 8 years so Im not the type to upgarde left and right. The only thing I will update in the future is a new video card.. That's it......
