I've got a 10980XE sitting at 5GHz 1.35V.

I toss p95 SSE blend on it for 24 hours and it sits under 85C entire time.

I power off/on, put on p95 again and it overheats within an hour.

I mess with my cooler a bit and fans, it sits okay at 85 again, but then if I reboot a few times every time I'm overheating until I randomly am not again.

Have you seen any weird behavior with memory related voltages or just power delivery to the CPU with Cascadelake-X? I thought something was wrong with my pump/cooler but I'm thinking maybe I need to do a deep dive on if anything is varying a lot... one thing that concerns me is that system agent voltage can Only use an Offset value and I was thinking maybe that voltage is going crazy on reboots and changing it up a lot.
A 10980XE at 1.35v is going to over heat. Anything over 1.25v is going to be hard to keep out of the 90-100c even on water cooling from what I have seen.

Silly question- does that still apply if the motherboard is installed horizontal instead of vertical?

Hi,
lol

Well if your board is sideways I guess the water jet should be vertical
Think you just have to try both directions and see which one works best.

Think also try ek mount if you have one on the heatkiller.
I thought it was much easier to mount than the clumsy bolt system.

Thats what im using as a matter of fact i run out of kryonaut i have some nh1 also pk1 laying around but used nh1 and my temps are great other than the core spread "still testing but this settings are the best one so far i got on this chip for the narrow core temps (the spikes it does still cracks me up tho is like it hits a high temp in a micro second but settle like 3-5c lower, i look the avgs instead on the max temps reported on core temp bcuz of that the reading is useless xD" but still that core 14 @ 1.14mV still the hottest XD" so i just bought a nh1 10gram tube for $15/on amazon ..

This is blender classroom looped temps which pull like 25-40w more than rog bench.

Thanks lol yeah... I have an old mountain mods case that does the job. I do have a heat killer iv as well. I may have an ek backplate somewhere, I need to check my storage.

I am waiting on the 10980 to arrive. Btw what is the max safe recommended vcore for these chips?

Using hydronaut. Running blender benchmark and already see a 20c difference

Hi,
Another thing it doesn't take much to clog a heatkiller or evo or foundation water block
Here's a heatkiller cold plate not too bad but a little while longer and boom clogged
So there is that real possibility you block is clogged
