VCCIO might have a small effect on mesh overclock, But I haven't tried pushing my mesh yet. I can run 32 Mesh at 1.120v, VCCIO at 1.1v. It might go lower on the mesh voltage, But I haven't had time to go lower yet.
Thanks! I’ll give VCCIO a try when I am back at the rig.

I am waiting on the 10980 to arrive. Btw what is the max safe recommended vcore for these chips?
Hi,
As much as you can cool I guess
No limit other than that.
Thanks I have overkill with rads so I should be good. It'll be all about the block.

goofy vs "normal"... if it applies to your block at all, is the same no matter what position the board is in.
Hehe I was curious if gravity had any play here. Goofy works fine as well because then the outlet port on the HK lines up better with the gpu inlet lol.

I saw your review of the optimus. I am tempted. First I need a cpu!

no chiller on this rig. Just a Mora-like rad system.
Wanna roast the cpu... hit it with y-cruncher. Just brutal. VCCIN drooped to 1.536V from 1.7V. that's a lot of current pull!

Those are great temps with no chiller! I hope I get similar results with my 10980 when I get it. On a separate note, what does VIN tracker do? How does it affect (or not affect) an OC?

Testing in latest RHEL, don't see any ratio dropping from 5.0. So it stays at 5.0 entire time, with temps <85C entire time (when it works).

So you're thinking it could have been throttling anyway when it seemed like it was working but just not evident by the real time clock reading/core temps?

yes, this type may not be visible from the OS... easily (HWi may show the thermal event signals, it is per core). It is right at the TCC temp (thermal control circuit) and I would certainly look.
The best way to see if the OC is providing for actual improved performance... is to measure it. If you are able to run p95, something like R20 or blender bench... or better yet HWBOT x265 4K 12x overkill (needs 30GB of ram tho).

Elmor explained earlier in this thread - he's the OP. But the VIN tracker can cause throttling if certain criteria are met leading it to signal an undervolt condition (is how I understand it). So, if you want to run a low VCCIN (and keep temps under more control) and avoid this voltage throttling in an OC, disable it. If the rig has been running good with it enabled, stand pat.

Hi,
Yeah I disabled vin tracker for last round of runs.
Didn't really notice much
Lowering vccin to 1.8v llc 5 I did loose points in R20 about 50 but R15 extreme was a hair better.
Thought I'd loose more than 50 still though I still can't get back my near 8900 I did on the cheapo mark 2 board
