i7-8700K Engineering Samples ?

The i7-8700k has basically gone up in price
https://pangoly.com/en/review/intel-.../price-history
And there's not many used ones on ebay, and they are barely any cheaper than new.

Then there's the i7-8700K ES from China, for ~$300USD. If I wasn't looking for a big OC, what do you think they are like on average ?

How is this possible? The 8700K isn't THAT good and neither is the 9700k, but they give really good bang for the buck when overclocked.

i think the 8700k and 9700k are extremely good for your average user especially gaming builds. not as good as a 9900k or 3900x but they are still really good.

In most of the gaming benchmarks I've seen 9700k and 9900k clearly beat all the AMD parts (incl. the 3950x).
