Cascade Lake X Adaptive OC informations ?

Hello everyone,

I can't find a lot of informations about this new lineup specifically on mesh/cache, I know it's pretty much the same as previous but what can we expect a better cache OC with CLX ?

What is the max reasonable cache OC if so ? at what voltage ?
What about CPU Voltage, as 14nm CPU, is still 1,30v max if temp is contained for 24/7 ?

And one more question, what about RAM OC ?
Default is 2933mhz, what can we expect ? Is the IMC rock solid with this gen ?

Nobody talks about these points in the reviews I have read ...

Thank you.

From what I've seen (and tested with 10920x) you can get higher core OC with than 7000 series or 9000 with same voltage, but no change to cache. RAM OC is still dependent on individual CPU IMC; Luumi (well known extreme OCer) still says the best chip for RAM in his experience was a 7920x he had a few years back, and this is even after testing 10980xe.

Hi,
You can read this thread
https://www.overclock.net/forum/5-in...-18-cores.html

Core voltage 1.3v would likely be enough for nearly 5mhz whether or not you can do that depends on cooling
I usually do 1.25v for 4.8 works for quite a bit some use lower again depends on the chip lottery.

Cache has always been 30 max and 10 series isn't any different
Voltage depends on the mother board on my apex I generally use auto on max cache 30 and use min cache 27 this you wouldn't want lower than half your memory frequency
But I suppose a manual voltage for cache would be well under 1.2v

Memory depends a lot of the type of memory used
3600c16 working well 3200c14 will always do well

https://benzhaomin.github.io/bdiefinder/
But if issue occur 24/ 7 memory stability thread is always a good please to get help

For "daily" settings I run my chip at 50/32 1.225/1.225. Temps are kept in check and this gives me freedom for pretty much any use. Memory is run at 4KC17 1.45V

For 3D Benching I still run the same 50/32 1.225/1.225, but memory steps up to 4KC14 1.85V

For 2D Benching I'll run 50/32 1.25/1.25, and memory steps up again to 4KC12 1.85V

This is all ambient. 35 Cache more than possible with just a slight bump in voltage, but temps get a bit higher than I would like.

Hi,
Biggest difference in 10 series is adaptive/ offset core voltage is completely broken by Intel programing
It exaggerates voltage thus causing high temps.
Only workaround is manual core voltage.

Same thing happened to Haswell-E If i remember, adaptative did not work, we had to use offset right ?

But does this mean we can't have idle voltage with CLX ?
I mean can we still use C1E & C state or EIST ?

Hi all,

I started overcloking the 10920x on Asus Strix X299 II

For now: VCCIN: 2v (1.95v in load) (what is the recommended voltage btw ?)
LLC5
Vcore 1.25v 4,8ghz
Vcache 1.10v 3ghz (no more possible with my chip)
AVX offset: 3
AVX512: 5

Memory @3600mhz 16-16-16-36-2T @1.35v

About offset/adaptive, yes i guess it's broken...
I tried but does not seems to work ?

How can we do to have a voltage reduction when cpu is idleing ?
It's annoying to always have high voltage... I like my X99 with adaptive voltage...

Hi,
Not 1.2v lol

Depends 1.9 llc4 or 5 or just peg it at 1.8v and same llc 4-5
4.8 doubt you'd need any avx offset leave at auto both.

1.25v is what I need for 4.8 also.
