Hi,
Bad contact likely redo thermal paste.
79 series is pigeon poop inside series so most people delid the buggers to get better temps.

I've bought this KIT Copper Upgrade Kit for LGA 2066 from ROCKITCOOL. Do i need to put liquid metal or can i just use the Noctua H2 inside and outside?

Thank you

Hi,
Sure you'd be in the same boat maybe worse
79 series needs liquid metal inside and noctua nt-h1 or h2 outside will be fine I use h1 still like it better.
Plenty of delid videos around even on rockit site I believe.

I'm back,

I've delidded and replaced the IHS. I didn't apply LM yet, i put the noctua H2 instead inside the ihs. I didn't seal the IHS, i don't think I will. Anyway,
I managed to OC the 7940x to 4.7GHz with 1.295v. Before the delid, the PC was shutting down in AVX/AVX512 performance test. Now it doesn't shutdown anymore, but the temperatures are
pretty high, I will see.

Anyway, this is my SPEC now https://valid.x86.fr/bench/v70c4e/18

completely wasting your time if you are not applying LM under IHS... Simply put ......./end
