The Intel argument is always single thread performance.

Therefore Sandy Bridge is better than a 980x.

why do you imagine 980x at 5 ghz

it can't do that at daily usage while sb can do it

also 980x is 1000 usd which makes it literally unbuyable

Waiting Intel Sandy Bridge 2600K for using @5.5 GHZ daily usage with water cooling

EDIT: This video shows that a 4.5ghz 980x gets 11.50 points in Cinebench compared to the 9.86 points the 2600k gets at 5.1ghz. I think that answers your question OP.

Whoever voted for the 2600k isn't very smart.
There's a video on you tube with a guy that ran his 980X at 4.9GHz and got 12.57 points in Cinebench 11.5.

It really depends on what things you will do with the processor... I think the 2600k is the better processor because of its price for performance, besides what programs do you know that use all 6 cores, let alone 4 cores besides benchmarking programs? The 2600k has better OC ability, better temperatures, and better price for performance. If I am going to pay 3 times as much for a 980x, I better get 3 times the performance.

No choice here boys and girls gotta flame

The fact that this thread even exists is an enbaresment to the site.

980x will decimate this mainstreme platform everyday of the week and twice on Sundays

This statment is not saying anything bad about SB. it simply is out of it's league.

try this going quad to quad and it might even be readable
