HTPC? What is this going to be used for?

Media playback on my bedroom LCD TV, so HD content. Movies, TV shows, surfing from bed/emailing etc.. Its networked into my home network. I also have a HTPC in my livingroom, a little beefyer that this little guy (i wanted to build as small of a pc as i could while still being able to do normal tasks and view full HD content.

I'm glad I found your post, I want to build a very similar build. What I am having trouble with is deciding between a Core i3 + H55 build, or if the Atom 330 + Ion is good enough. I know that the Ion graphics can do 1080p through CUDA/DXVA with CoreAVC and such.

My question to you, is do you use PPLive/PPTV? And is the N330 Atom able to do smooth PPTV HD/BlueRay streaming?

I dont stream anything. Just download HD content (not into commercials)
I guess i could run a test for you though and try and stream some hd youtube or something.

I know the ion can handle HD youtube through the Flash 10.1 release candidate/betas.

PPLIVE/PptV is a program that works like bittorrent, and starts playing a movie right away while you download. Not commercials. Full 720p blueray movies.

However, the actual video player seems to be their internal player and I can't get it to respond to any kind of hardware acceleration, at least not with my simulated setup (8800GT Nvidia)

I love this little case. Mainly, because it is so versatile, but also because it forces you to get creative with the wiring and placement of things too. I'm getting ready to buy a couple more to play with. i ended up kind of butchering my last one a bit. Good to see someone else using them. M350's are great little cases.

Meh

love the smallness of this case and wish it would do what i need . i do hope in future we will see these small cases as common instead of having to use bigger ones
