Any word from Standford or anybody else expressing interest in creating a folding client for the upcoming consoles?

Considering the PS3 had it, even though it only churned out like 1,000 ppd, the PS4/Xbox One should be able to put out at least 30,000 ppd.

So a decent amount of ppd and the fact that they'll be pretty power friendly, does anybody see this happening??

RROD was a pretty well documented error. I do not see that happening again.

I wouldn't expect to hear this.  They abandoned the PS3 project, I'm not sure if that was Sony or Stanford that shut that down.  From what I've read the new consoles are basically an AMD APU rig, so they probably wouldn't do 30k PPD.  It's always possible though, only time will tell for sure.

well, I estimated that figure. I'd assume that the GPU could do more than a Nvidia 460. A Desktop 7870 does about 45-50k ppd a day. Figured I'd cut that in half, then add a few thousand ppd from the CPU.

Oh well, would be a nice way to contribute without always hogging my PC

Yup, we shall see, but I would say its unlikely.  Maybe we'll find something out at e3 this week, or at least more about the hardware in the new consoles.

I think it's possible, a 7970M should be able to do some work!

The PS3 is worldwide still one of the contributers ever. It is not about PPD per console but about the number of people folding with them. If you can fold even 10k PPD and do it with millions the total amount will be enormous over time.

And RROD was an Xbox thing, not Playstation. Playstation has YLOD.
