First and foremost, I am not sure if this is the right place to put this. As I do believe it is related to [email protected]

So I have been talking this over with a few members of OCN and [email protected] Since dropbox has stop support for HTML files aka hosting static websites. There are few alternatives out that still allow you to use dropbox to host your HFM stats. I know that you can use FTP to host it but a good majority of users may not have a NAS (Network Attached Storage), website or any type of host to be able to do it.

What my question is, what if there is a free (100% free) service/system that would allow you to host your HFM stats? The idea behind it, is to allow users to be able to sign up and get a limited FTP account that is intended for HFM only. From here, teams and other entities can group up the HFM stats of those users under one banner if they choose. Like with the TC, you could have all the guys from Brass Bottom Boys, Power Rangers, etc be listed.

This by not means that it would be affiliated with OCN in any way. I just feel that is the place where I could express my idea and see if its worth working on. Plus who knows, maybe it might tie into the current automated system that @axipher made.

Dropbox accounts created after October 4, 2012 won't have a Public folder. If you'd like to quickly share files you can use a shared link. Shared links work even if the person you're sharing with doesn't have a Dropbox account.

Dropbox Basic (free) users

As of March 15, 2017 the Public folder in your Dropbox account has been converted into a standard folder. By default this folder is private to your account. This transition will occur automatically.

Here's what you need to know:

All of the files in your Public folder will remain safe, but public links to those files will stop working
If someone visits a link to a file in your Public folder, they'll see an error page
To see a list of your public links, visit the Public folder—any file in this folder will have previously had a public link associated with it
Dropbox can't convert existing public links into Dropbox shared links
If you'd like to re-share any of the files in your Public folder, please use a shared folder or shared link
Using the public folder to render HTML content

As of October 3, 2016 Dropbox Basic (free) users can no longer use public links to render HTML content in a web browser. If you're a Basic user, and you created a website that directly displays HTML content from your Dropbox account, it will no longer render in the browser. The HTML content itself remains safe in Dropbox, and you can share it using any of our other sharing methods.

Effective September 1, 2017, Dropbox Pro, Plus, and Business users will no longer be able to render HTML content, and the Public folder and its sharing functionality will be disabled. Until that date, Dropbox Pro, Plus, and Business users can continue to use public links to render HTML content.

I dont care if anyone else can't see it. I still can. If I'm somewhere that doesn't have cell service I probably can't get to a webpage to view it via FTP or remotely fix it so who gives a flying duck.

Not trying to be hostile here. Once September roles around, if you try to view a page rendered in HTML. You will be prompted to download it or given an error message. As of right now, since I no longer pay for my dropbox account. I cant and nor can anyone else view HTML pages. I tried the mobile app as well since I didnt in the past, that gives me an error message when trying.

I am sure there might be alternatives that might spring up to replace the feature that dropbox is removing.

@Ryahn you should add your folding team name to your profile. I voted no for the mandatory HFM that BWG wanted years ago when I was the captain of the Fluffy Pink Ninjas but I am still open for improvements.

Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.
