It didn't have a quick return bonus, but that's because some people used NaCl to get an insane PPD with powerful CPUs. Because of that, a better CPU (like my 7500) would give more points with regular folding.

Ah, makes sense. It's odd, the i7 I mentioned was doing quite well yesterday. Pulling ~20k PPD. Now it's acting like the 3rd gen i7s, pulling in not more than 3k. Maybe some small WUs are still out there? Very disappointing.

Looking to sell your GPU? I'm always looking to add more to my folding collection. PM me.

I put my CPU on pause for now since it looks like PPD has gone down to completely useless (I only have a 2500k and 8320FX atm). Hopefully that doesn't effect the GPU WUs, used to always run them together.

My understanding was that each GPU running requires 1 CPU thread. So the GPU folding would be impacting the CPU folding. I always found my GPU's ran a little lower PPD if I was CPU folding at the same time. That might be because I run multiple GPU's per machine though so now I just GPU fold.

That's correct. It's best to fold with CPU threads minus # of GPUs. In the past an odd # didn't have much work or was not as efficient so people recommend CPU 6 or not multiples of 5+ primes like 7, 10, 14. Not sure how that is any more. Still need to leave 1 thread of GPUs though with NV GPUs.

I was wondering about this. It seems like the client does this automatically. If you start your GPU, it'll drop the CPU 1 core.

Also, is there a thread or guide on GPU drivers? Do you just always stay on the latest, or look for specific ones?

There used to be 346.96 Linux driver for maxwell cards that was best but I haven't heard anything recently here about one driver being better or worse for folding. There might be tests done at foldingforum.

It seems I'm out for the time being. Just popped my last UPS fuse.

Hopefully I can resume folding a bit later and at a lower intensity, but I'm not sure what will happen. My UPS was only loaded about 75%.

EDIT: I managed to bypass the UPS for the time being, but now I'm totally at the mercy of Escom. So we'll see how it goes.
