Jeez, I love how people just Stereotype WoW players like that, I mean, I havea girlfriend, I have plenty of friends I chill with all the time, I have a job, I like sports, I have a life. I just. SPEND ALL THE FREETIME I HAVE ON WOW.
I'm addicted to WoW. After a very long time of playing, I quit. Back a while ago actually. I quit when BC came out. And it was Very hard, Recently, I was sent a message from an old guildie telling me I should try the Trial, for WotLK, And I did, I figured, I would spend the 10 days, just to talk to my old friends and what not. And I did, But the 3rd day, I got bored, and before i knew it, I actually lvl'd from 60-70 in 17 hours of non-stop playing. I was addicted, Of course, this was a WotLK Trial, so i couldn't go past 70, onto 80. I was stuck, 5 more days, with Nothing to do, So i asked around trying to tell people I'd level there account for them well they slept, I felt so, Addicted. I have a Problem, Help me.
Wow, Telling a 17 year old to smoke, You're a great Role model, and yes. I've been playing wow since I was 11-12. *side note* I was never an Annoying child, I was very accepted by my guild and still today have a talk of Ventrilo/msn with my GM twice a week at least, and She's 53.
Find some other hobby, like, biking or something that will exhaust you. I used to be video game addicted, but going out and biking helped clear my mind of them.

I am 17..xD
But yeah, don't smoke. Maybe take up a new video game, one that isn't an RPG? You could also play some sports too, I think I saw someone say biking..biking is great way to pass the time, just get on a bike and ride as far as you can, it's good for your health too.
Just start modding your pc. Most of the time it'll be taken apart so you can avoid WoW. Also, you might break some parts and give yourself more downtime.
Addiction is actually the wrong word. Your compulsiveness about WoW is a form of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). The onlyway to get rid of OCD is to just not fulfill it. You just have to be mentally dedicated to stopping. It's a good thing that you're not addicted to anything, ehem...cigarettes, because then you'll not only want to smoke, but you'll physically need to smoke. The only solution to your issue is to just not play. It really isn't that hard. Once you go a week without it everything will be back to normal again.

I do actually have OCD, But it only really comes in which, I always knock on my door before leaving my room, no matter what, If i'm in a corner store, I have to organize the Items on the front desk (cashier place) and I always turn taps on and off 3 times before washing my hands
the money that you would be spending to play wow every month, just send it to me
.
yeah and dont smoke, that was a poor suggestion haha. try picking up a new hobby: outdoor sports (skateboarding/snowboarding), learn an instrument, find a new pc game that isnt an RPG, start modding/benching more.

Everyone has had OCD sometime in their life. I used to be obsessive compulsive about playing basketball. I used to always have to make three 3-pointers in a row before I quit. Sometimes I'd be out there till dark still trying to make three in a row. I wouldn't go in the house if I didn't make it. Then I took college level Psychology and learned about this disorder. I then told myself I had to just not fulfill the needs of my OCD in order to get rid of it. It took me just one time to go in the house without making three 3 pointers in a row in order for my OCD to go away. You have to be mentally dedicated to it.
get chuck noris to side kick you out of it looooooool,
play some other games, ones that have an ending, remember you only live once, you have spend the last few years playing WoW and well you better make use you the coming years, get a girlfriend, go out clubbing, have a laugh and a few drinks, invite your friends for a barbequeue listen to some loud music,
You should tell a family member or a doctor. My guess is that WoW addiction is really just a manifestation of something else you should be dealing with.
