Whenever I boot my PC, I am getting the 9C error code, it hangs there for a few minutes and then boots normally. What is going on?

9C = USB init.

move a usb to a 3.0 port and try again.. also; may try putting your keyboard on a PS2 adapter to see if that fixes it.

**This is another annoyance that MSI seems to not be able to rid themselves of.. as its existed in every mobo lineup for the last couple years...

So your saying it's the usb2.0 or potentially the keyboard? I have my mouse and keyboard both plugged into the usb2.0s

well yes and no.

*what im saying is, more specifically;  MSI USB initialization causes many issues for vast majority of MSI users on boot

 I have found that using a PS2 adapter for my USB keyboard fixes the issue for me.

 I have also found that different keyboards can cause different results.

I would suggest focusing on your USB ports/placement.. and see if using the 3.0 ports gets rid of the POST failure, if the PS2 adapter does not work for you.

**BIOS update may be coming soon to help this problem on Z97 too...

switching my keyboard to a usb 3.0 from the 2.0 seems to have fixed it, weird

Made an account just to say thanks - Z87 board gave 9C hang, plugged out the USB3 flash drive (in a 2.0 port) and it instantly started
