I have 16Gb of corsair dom coupled with 5390. Selecting xmp profile in the bios will not let me boot into windows, and sometimes it won't even post.

Halp.

More info needed.

is the 5390 meant to read 5930K?

5930K memory speeds supported:
Memory Types DDR4 1333/1600/2133

is your XMP profile faster than these? If so maybe need to overclock/overvolt the IMC and the CPU to handle the faster frequency.

Yes. it's a 5390k, and the xmp profiles are 2800/3000. I haven't oced in a long time. Thanks for giving me a heads up, I'll look around.

Hmm, so just to be clear, the system will boot without the XMP profile set?

If it does, maybe try to set the XMP profile, and then loosen the timings a bit to see if you can post.

Also, there may be two XMP profiles, that are within 2hz of each other, something like 2999Mhz and 3001Mhz. Maybe try the other one if you've only tried one. Also once you've set your XMP, you may be able to go into your DRAM timings and see if you can set your secondary and tertiary timings to one of the compatibility modes (if the bios offers this)
