I go the extra for pro just for the bit locker encryption. They have been cracking down on piracy of movies, OS and music lately around me. At least one story a week in the newspapers. Most are from ripping movie discs and making more and dumba$$es selling them over the counter at convenience stores. A few months back a PC build/repair shop got nabbed and shut down for MS licenses both OS and Office products. In the pokey awaiting trial. Article said hes facing 7 years per offense.

Like I said, just not worth it.
I've had Microsoft itself activate those keys a second third fourth fifth time for me and I kind of agree with the one guy in regards to what he said about just buying one for 10 bucks. Yeah those keys are perfectly legit though they're just one time activations and they're supposed to be tied to your Hardware you're not technically supposed to be able to switch hardware and then reactivate them but Microsoft has done it for me multiple times.

Agreed, if you wanna go that route go for it. I prefer what I know will keep me sleeping well, retail version of pro with digital key. The $199 is chump change compared to the other $10K dumped in the build.

[QUOTE=Jpmboy;28008516]no cables, but you can add a cheapo card to the pciex4 slot and get a bunch of SATA3 ports... or migrate to NVME.

What card you think is best, actually i have a 4 port syba card but i saw those kind of card with a special cable to 4 port then you can add 8 sata with it : https://www.newegg.ca/supermicro-aoc...-792-_-Product

any are fine. they are pretty simple plug and play cards. Why get a $150 SAS card? You using SAS? just get a SATA card. I think mine cost $25.

hehehe, no troll here . I using the syba cheap 4 port and my 8 port on mobo was full with 1 X m.2 in mobo and i put 2 X external hdd to usb 3.0.

The new board coming (rampage omega) and i will lost 2 port inside, then my syba 4 port will be not enough so i just bought another m.2 of 1tb to cancel my raid of 2x samsung pro and i will transfert it to this m.2.

But if i can i still keep that raid. So i mean my syba 4 port begin to be not enough and i ask you about card with 8 port coz i know you have a nice experience.....just that.

BTW asus already mail me a new asus x299 strix i think coz they write this : SWAP directly & no repair : Replaced Part(s):
[90MB0U50-M0AAY0] ROG STRIX X299-E GAMING
I just not sure coz i dont understand the word SWAP, anyway i think they send me another motherboard but i ask for fast shipping on my omega board so i will get it next week and this is the one i will install and sell my strix with the monoblock.

you're getting a replacement board... "Swap". I questioned the card you posted since it is a SAS controller, not just a SATA controller. SAS drives are enterprise level (and good stuff) but I don;t think you need the SAS aspect. You can't find a cheapo SATA card with more than 4 ports?

Thanks for reply, actually my syba 4 port is not bad but with 8 port it become more expensive and for near the same price i can get one like this : https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...R5VTEZAJ&psc=1

The good thing is with the special cable i start from the card with just one cable and switch to 4 sata and to me its a lot better for cable management, then a 8 port card like this : https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07...4RCW5MS9&psc=1

So normal 8 port card is around 85$ and the one with special cable is 108$, the difference is not big and the sas one is X8, maybe the speed is better too, but i dont know if a card like this can be detect with the asus rampage omega, just worry about compatibility.
