Nothing wrong with 4000Mhz at CL18 keep in mind that frequency is half of the equation, latency is the other.

CL/Hz x1000=milliseconds to charge.

18/4000x1000= 4.5 milliseconds.

low latency kits dont get the frequency. Example

14/3200x1000= 4.3 milliseconds

Thats a little better but marginally so.

You could probably get that kit to do a little better by manually tweaking it but not by too much. Your kit is better than my corsair dominator 8x8 kit at XMP but manually tweaking its at at 16/3600 which is 4.4 milliseconds. 0.1 mS doesn't amount to a hill of beans.

Hey fellas - I hope that this is the right place to post for these questions. I recently came across a 9990XE and I paired it up with the Rampage Extreme Omega as I figured it was one of the only few X299 boards with sufficient VRM.

So far, I've got everything basically stock, except XMP enabled on the G.Skill 3600CL16 kit. I've also gone around the BIOS and tried to increase CPU/VRM power limits anywhere I can find them. Current BIOS settings are attached. Version is 702.

I'm able to boost to 5.0Ghz all-core (stock) under most regular workloads, like 3dmark, gaming, etc.

The chip is stable under regular use, but I've run across a few issues:
- Prime95 Small FFTs (AVX and non-AVX), I get maxed out at 3.8Ghz all cores - temps are more than fine at 60-70C here
- IntelBurnTest same thing
- Cinebench R15 and R20 gets to 5Ghz all-core, and then near the end of the test I get BSOD with DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION. Temps are nearing TJMax here.

Is there anything else in the BIOS I may be missing? I can't tell exactly what kind of throttling I am experiencing here.

If you got a 9980XE to run 5GHz all cores with anything short of a good chiller youve got a golden chip. It took mme a few months to find the magic numbers to get 14 cores to 5Ghz....but its stable on everything although running a bit on the warm side with heavy AVX workloads.

Two things I see that I always max out are long and short term power limits.
May want to take VCCIO out of auto, check others with the same chip and MOBO for a good setting for that.
Turn off the ASUS enhancement.
Maybe Im blind but didnt see LLC setting....

Is microcode 64 the best performing of the bunch?

I could get it to 5.2 but damn it was hot. pushing TDP to the hairy edge and occasionally would throttle. 5Ghz was its happy place, even dialed it back to 4.8 for daily use where its nice a cool. Its sitting in a box with now. Taunting with the ideal off adding a mini ATX for a second system into my enthoo elite but I may have to lose a radiator to to that. If I go that route its going to be a chiller or a MoRa.
