I'm still pretty sure the 12 core is the full LCC die.

If I am not mistaken, the single M.2 slot speaks directly to the CPU, and according to that video so does the Dim.2 slot. If that is correct, theoretically will you be seeing the same speeds and lag(or lack thereof) from either placement?

I have a single Samsung 960 Pro I was thinking of connecting to the single M.2 slot. That make sense?

The ONLY way, currently, so use VROC is to use INTEL NVME drives. you have to use one of the Dim.2 risers with 2+ slots. The one they would like for you to purchase (not yet available) is the ASUS Hyper M.2 X16 Card. Some info here: http://www.pcworld.com/article/3199104/storage/intels-core-i9-and-x299-enable-crazy-raid-configurations-for-a-price.html or just Google "ASUS Hyper M.2 X16 Card"

Also, check out the Exterme's webpage for a little more info: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/ROG-RAMPAGE-VI-EXTREME/
