Upgrade Options - Botched 1809 Update

Hey all - our office PC caught the 1809 update bug (start menu always resets, a few apps not working, etc). I'm planning on mirroring the boot drive over to another HDD while I reinstall a Windows build w/1809 already attached.

But I came to think - if I'm taking the trouble of scratch-installing, why not do a mild upgrade on the i5 2400/Intel DQ67 platform? So that sets me up for a range of $$$ spends: from a free "reinstall", up to $400+ for a modest current platform. Or should I go in-between (used older gen processor and reuse DDR3)? Once up and running, I don't plan to upgrade for a few more years (other than a drop-in CPU, if performance/cost ratio comes down to a comfortable range).

So three options:
1. Current platform upgrade: i3 8100, H310, DDR4, nVM.e (most $$$)
2. Older gen: Sky/Kaby, motherboard, DDR3 (if possible), reuse SSD (middle $$$)
3. Just reinstall: Keep i5 2400, DQ67EP, 16GB DDR3, 850 SSD

The PC is working, just have to tolerate the "bugs", so no real rush to reinstall/upgrade. So I thought I'd throw it out there and see what the OCN community thinks. Thanks!
