Never saw a fire on the motherboard before

So, I put on a X58 Sabertooth by Asus on the test bench, and lo-and-behold, a smoke and a fire.

I have NEVER seen anything like that. Luckily it started smoking within first 2 minutes of booting, otherwise I would have a fire department outside of my house.

I was laughing my A off, but at first it was NOT funny, because that's the LAST thing I expected. Luckily I tested it on the test bench, and not in the case, otherwise I would have ruined my case and potentially started a fire.

Fire started around Power plugs.

NUTS! That's a refund, LOL...back to the seller it goes. Now I know what motherboard smells like when there is fire. It's not bad, kind of like twigs in the forest

It was used, but in great condition, or so I thought

It even had a plastic seal over Southbridge that he never took off.

I had a 990fx Sabertooth by Asus (for AMD FX processors), and maaaaan that thing ran hot, but this motherboard got it beat.
What beats heat? Fire. What beats fire? Hotter fire.

Last Sabertooth I will ever get XD

i bought that very same board for a secondery x5660 rig i was making while it didn't go up in flames it still had a bug that made it randomly restart every few minutes or when it's trying to enter windows, it's very random, sadly i'm stuck with it couldn't return it took the loss on it and now it's in a box collecting dust with an x5660 installed in it

I am not surprised. The board itself looks nice, and ceramic layer over aluminium heatsinks is nice, but the board is not a good overclocker either. I realized it after reading about it.

Any board that goes up in flames, is horrrrrrrrible product.

PCB is made in China, and not in a good way

I don't think they make Sabertooth anymore. Asus did a really bad job, especially marketing this as "military class board". You don't see Humvee going up in flames randomly. Sabertooth is not "military class" by a long shot

It's a walking fire hazard. Thank GODS I noticed the smoke right away and didn't burn down my house. I was sitting right next to it, while on the test bench. It would have been horrible if it destroyed anything in the house.

Haha! You know...until yesterday...I thought it was NEVER possible, unless I short circuit something and create a spark. I never saw a smoke and then a fire inside of the motherboard. I could hear Nate Dogg singing in the background as I saw a thick smoke trails

It's a common joke on PC forums about starting a fire, but now I saw it in action, and it wasn't even my fault.

I can literally sue Asus, but I can't be bothered.

There is a user, maybe not too active these days, Becks. His avatar pic was his rig on fire with flames shooting out of the case. As best I recall, it wasn't staged.
