That one and the master as my top choices I am debating IF I jump on the 10900. Do you know if it is officially announced that 11th gen will also fit z490?

I haven't pre-ordered quite yet but it's on my new build list, along with a 10900k as well. My newest rig ATM features the ASUS ROG Maximus VII Formula Z170 which powers my 6600k and twin GTX 1070's (Build 03/2017) I think it's finally time to upgrade!

I haven't upgraded in years because sometimes future proof works! The water cooled Formula MB is awesome and my 2x GTX1070's are faster than my GTX1080ti. There are a few games now that are not playable @ 4k, so the time has come.

I debated waiting for the RTX 3080ti release but decided this build will have to be a 2 stage process (1st the basic rig build, then GPU / Water cooling upgrade). May be a little easier with smaller outgoing cash amounts vs one big one. lol

TBH I'm not sure which stage will take the most time, my guess is the water cooling stage. Installing water blocks, rads, pump / reservoir, then cutting and bending all the rigid tubing is quite the job but it's all totally worth it in the end. Now the wait ... main components are pre-order only right now.

Exciting! Pics please!

What RAM did you go with? I'm trying to decide if faster is really worth the cost or if I can spend the money in a better place. It would help me out if could you share your build list? It's going to be a spendy build no doubt but luckily I have my case, PS, D5 pump and rads already so that helps.

I'm keeping my current formula build because it's the sweetest rig I've ever built and I don't have the heart to tear it down for parts. Maybe in a few more years, and especially after doing the rigid tubing.

I'm getting ready to assemble this 10900K / Asus Maximus Formula combo and am having a question on which m.2 slot to use for my nvme drive, and which slot to use for my m.2 sata based drive. For the nvme m.2 obviously I do not want to take any bandwidth away from the pcie 16 slot for my gpu, so im confused as to which slot to use according to the manual. The diagram is hard for me to understand. Can someone please take a sec and see if they understand which m.2 slot to use for the nvme drive so it wont take lanes away from my gpu, and which slot to use for my sata based m.2 where it wont effect my gpu either??!! I dont care at all about the onboard sata ports...... Really appreciate someones time on this matter!

I would use the second slot, as it only takes bandwidth away from the one SATA port. You can also use the third slot, as it only takes bandwidth from the bottom PCIE slot and if you aren't using that for anything that is an option to. Just don't use the first slot for your NvMe drive.

Ordered mine along with a 10700K today. Finally upgrading from my MVF and 3770K. MVF was such a good board that I bought this one without even thinking about it.

Got 2 sets of these to go with it:

https://www.newegg.com/team-16gb-288...82E16820313712

have 2 sets of them in my htpc build (3700X) and they do 3733 at 14CL no problem. probably more, but im limited by the fclk

Would have gone 10900k, but I can't find any in stock. Also plan to upgrade to Rocketlake, so I'm not too worried about it really. This thing will be a massive upgrade from an Ivy Bridge.
