Asus has their own i225 firmware update that doesn't require you to boot to an EFI disk to flash it.

For ASUS motherboards:

Did you get the files from here?

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards...Desk_Download/

https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/m...N10_64-bit.zip

Get the Zip file.

Extract the I225V_End_User_FW_UPDATE.zip

Inside the I225V_End_User folder right click on install.bat -> run as administrator

You can read the instructions on the I225_FW_Update _Tool_SOP.pdf

_____________

I have this network connection issue with an ASUS Prime Z490-A mobo. I have updated the BIOS to Ver. 0607 and the Intel i225 driver to Ver 1.0.1.4 at the suggestion of ASUS tech support. However, I think they were just guessing and are not even aware of the i225 firmware issue discussed in this thread. The links provided above (to the ASUS ROG mobo) provide a zip file that, when unzipped, contains a single dot CAP file. There is no batch file (.bat) and no mention of either the "i225 End User FW Update.zip" or the "i225 FW Update Tool." Can someone provide links to a source for both of these from ASUS? Thx

I don't know what you clicked, but you clearly clicked the wrong thing. Those links are for the firmware and there is NO cap file in it. You probably clicked something else. I just downloaded that file and checked. NO cap file anywhere. Just ethernet drivers and firmware upgrade.

Thanks everyone for your help. I completely missed the firmware file that was combined with the ASUS BIOS update.

I've rolled the driver back to ver. 1.0.0.13 and installed the new firmware using the Command window/.bat file routine. So far the i225 network adapter is continuing to work after a couple of restarts. If anyone needs it, I've tried to write out the step-by-step process I used to to get this done.
