Probably the Asus ROG Strix Z490-G Gaming. It's very slim pickings when it comes to enthusiast mATX boards.

I would avoid strix. Its not reflective of maximus series at all

So for now either msi or giga. Unless asus comes out with gene or impact

IMHO the ASUS Z490-G looks like the best board of the bunch. Buildzoid credits it as likely the best mATX board available and if I was to replace my current Z77 Gene board I'd have no issues going right back to ASUSes offering. If trying to save money though I'd probably take the MSI over the Gigabyte one as it's $50 cheaper than the ASUS board (Gigabyte's is even cheaper but lacks front USB-C if that's important to some and it just looks like a different/funny aesthetic board design imo) which isn't a small amount...

Has anyone here used one of Asus's Z490 STRIX micro-atx / mini-itx motherboards? They look pretty good but I haven't seen any memory overclocking results on this forum. There's a few professional reviews of these boards but they barely overclock these things.

As far as I can tell, there really isn't a true enthusiast Z490 micro-atx motherboard available yet, hopefully Asus is planning on introducing a motherboard to fill this empty product segment. I would buy a ROG Maximus XII Gene (micro-atx) or ROG Maxmius XII Impact (mini-itx) in a heartbeat, but I haven't seen any rumors surrounding these hypothetical products.

i see different opinion here one say the strix is not good the other say the opposite i'm confused, so the choice is between asus and msi?
