about to start a new build, Have a few questions, Starting with ASUS ROG MAXIMUS XII Extreme or Formula

Hi,

as the name says, I am about to start a build, and I have alot of questions so I will be posting in different parts of the forum. But my first question, which should I get a Formula or a Extreme? I am going to watercool, and the wc part is nice in the formula but is it really needed? But the extra M.2 is nice on the Extreme but is it worth the extra for the 2 m.2s? I have a ton other questions.

Thank you for your help, time and info!

this is what i am looking at, can be persuaded to change my mind if you can give me good reason and show me a pretty build with WC. I am also looking at getting a Asus ROG strix Helios case with a Bykski distro block but not sure, i know I want a distro plate in my build.

10900k (or 3900x or 3950x, haven't desided for exactly which one yet)
asus rog Maximus XII extreme or Formula (still not sure)
Asus GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11 GB ROG Strix Gaming OC
Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 64 GB (4 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory
Sabrent Rocket 2 TB M.2-2280 NVME x2
Seagate BarraCuda 120 2 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive x2

ram oc. normally i say go extreme for that 16x4gb. but as it stands. hero vs formula vs extreme no diff. if anything hero .. from two ppl feedback actually seemed better ok 4x8gb.

daisy chain bro is a real problem on 4dimm. you stand a better chance of getting 2x32gb stable.

So I was wanting to fill out the ram slots to look more even. But there's a problem with it? Or is 3600 good enough with 4 sticks?

Future Build Coming up, will update this when I get it done.

Also looking at maybe a msi build but not sure what everything to match for the sake of a fan build.

I was torn between the two boards myself. I ended up settling on the combination of the Formula and the separate thunderbolt card from the Extreme which I was able to source separately. For me it came down to the fact there didn’t seem be any real advantages going any higher than the Formula from a memory OC or VRM perspective.

Another big factor was size for me, the Formula was the best ATX sized board and the Extreme was E-ATX which would have been cramped for my H500M case.

I've decide on the formula too. Now case should i use the asus rog helios? Or can you suggest a better case, need it to hold a reservoir plate and 2 360 rads.

Future Build Coming up, will update this when I get it done.

If you're running dual 360 rads, then use the Lian Li 011D XL ROG case. I have my Hero Xii in that case now. I believe they have reservoir plates for it, but not sure, as I don't use them.
