Asus X99 Deluxe II missing chip?????????

Hi everyone,

I just bought an Asus x99 Deluxe II on eBay from an Asus outlet reseller of refurbished parts...

I received the board and compared it with a picture of one online that i know is 100% correct and proper and i came across a missing chip.... At least i think... I have attached a picture... My board from eBay is on the right and the 100% one is on the left, there is a yellow square with an arrow pointing to the missing part i mean...

Anyone know enough about this to tell me what's going on? I didn't have any mention from the reseller about it and it didn't happen in transit since the chip isn't anywhere in the box etc...

The description was completely refurbished to like new condition, cosmetically and functionality wise.

???????????? hmmmmm fair enough man, thanks for pointing that out.... I guess I'll have to see if it works properly and if it does, conclude that you're right and it's just a revision difference... I mean it's got to be hasn't it... What's the odds of there being another picture online of a Deluxe II with the exact same thing and only thing "missing"

Thanks mate, repped ????????????????????????????????

It looks to be the same as whatever it is to the immediate right of it. It could be some power or signal thing, but whatever it is, it might be that two of whatever it is isn't needed. It very well could be a revision difference. I agree with the above; if it works, I wouldn't worry much about it. If you're really concerned about it, contact either ASUS and ask about it or the seller, but it's likely not an issue. That looks not like something that fell off, but "the board was initially laid out for it but it was soldered there in the end" to me. I've seen other parts have similar things on them. Sometimes later on down they line they may change what they ultimately include.

Hi,

I'll have a look at my X99 Deluxe II motherboard and see if one is one there or not. More "oddities" from the motherboards that lead to speculation. On the X99 Deluxe (mark_1)_there were 5 x PCI_e_x16_gen_3_slots but on the X99 Deluxe II there are only 4 - There is however, 1 x pci-e_x16 gen 2 slot on X99 Deluxe II (chipset)__& there was introduction of USB 3.1 GEN 2 (10 Gb/s)_on the back panel that the MARK 1 X99 Deluxe did not have as it was the USB 3.0 5 Gb/s.

This is the best explanation I've got based on what I know - Maybe you could look into it if you wish - Later on I'll look at the deluxe ii to see if that chip is there or not - Thanks
