Z490 Board Recommendation ~ $300

looking at the 10700k or 10900k if I can find one close to msrp.

Looking at these chips for hosting game servers that need a good clock speed. So will run as close to 5-5.2ghz as I can get. Will be putting on Corsair water loop wither 240 or 360 model.

Originally looking at the MSI Unify but my local store doesn't seem to get them in. Cant justify $100 more for Ace.

They have an Asus Z490-E Rog Strix, idk how those are.

Whats a good option around $300?

Cpu
Asus Maximus> Msi & Giga

Ram
Msi>Giga>Asus

Strix doesnt get the features the maximus does that makes cpu oc good.

So go with Msi

I can daily 5.4-5.5 with my Unify so I would suggest ordering one, even if your local store doesn’t carry it. The Unify doesn’t have RGB, doesn’t have an iGPU phase and won’t tell you your “SP” rating, but it can hang with the most expensive boards in CPU overclocking and all I have to touch is the cpu core voltage and multiplier. It also recovers from bad overclocks very quickly without having to press the bios reset or the retry buttons.

When you say doesnt have iGPU phase, you mean I will need some sort of video card?

Right, there are no monitor hookups on the motherboard.

Just listen to this when you have 30 min to spare. I have gone with Buildzoid’s recommendations before, specifically for my MSI Z490 Unify, my Patriot Viper Steel 4400, and my 2080ti K|NGP|N, and he has never steered me wrong.

You cant go wrong with the MSI Unify but the Gigabyte range is also very strong all the way up from the Vision G which has a true 12 phase but the best of the bunch are the Gigabyte Z490 Auros Pro or the Ultra which also have full 12 phase VRM's for the CPU. I have the Ultra and it is an excellent board which just about everything and the kitchen sink so 2.5G Lan, Wifi AX, plenty of USB 3.1 Gen 2 etc. good overclocking with my 10700K at 5.1GHz all core at 1.295v

Gigabyte Z490 Aorus Ultra - i7-10700K - 4x8GB TT Toughram RGB DDR4 RGB 3600 - 1 X ADATA 500GB NVMe M.2 SSD - 1 x Samsung EVO 250GB SSD - 1 x 256GB M4 Crucial SSD - 1 x 1TB Hard Drives - MSI Geforce RTX 2080 Gaming X - Antec Crystal P120 Case - Arctic Freezer II 360mm AIO.

+1 vote for MSI Unify, amazing board. The more i play with it, the more i like it. Great memory OC too 4000C15 on just 1.45V mem and 1.15 IO/SA is nice.

Yeah, I bought X570 Master which he „recommends”. Let’s say, excellent design, bad execution. Guys from BIOS department should have some Zyclon B dose.
