MSI X299 Creator Cascade Lake X memory compatibility

Has anyone tried this kit and can confirm that it works on X299 Cascade Lake X?

https://www.gskill.com/qvl/165/184/1...18Q-128GVK-Qvl

Second question: is it better to go for a full 128gb kit or would 2 x 64gb kits do? Are compatibility issues a thing of the past on this platform?

Thank you.

Depends on the board, really. They have several Asus and MSI boards on the QVL on that page but as always not guaranteed. Check your motherboard's QVL memory list too.

I did find my motherboard on their QVL list. However it's listed as skylake X compatibility, so not sure about cascade lake -although logic would dictate it should be compatible. Motherboard manufacturer has nothing on their QVL list pertaining to these kits, however they do have a few 64gb ones... that's why I was wondering if it's better to go for two 64gb kits that the MB manufacturer validated instead of one 128gb kit that the ram manufacturer validated (for a previous gen cpu).

if the 64 and 128s use the same sticks then that should be fine I would think. Intel upped Cascade Lake memory speeds so I'd hope it would work better than the old Skylake ones.
