Looking to go custom watercooling soon. Really wanting to use a universal GPU block for further compatibility with ofher GPUs I will be testing in the future. My question is, will the EK Thermosphere work with my EVGA GTX 980 Ti SC+ ACX 2.0+ (4995) GPU without the removal of the internal heatplate?

I don't know about the removal of the internal heatplate, but EK has a compatability list to determine what parts will work with a specific video card.

well.. it says:

Cools GPU only! To be used with factory installed Mounting Plate G80.

so.. i guess it might. If you wanna know for sure... EK has representatives here .. try the EK club smile.gif

Otherwise.. there must be a FAQ somewhere https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-thermosphere

How is it working for you? I'm thinking of doing this over a full block. I mean its about 70$ more for the full block. I also have a SC+2 with the midplate/backplate. Do you have a picture of your setup?

I would like see thermospehere with both plates, but I consider that we have modding the G80 bracket because the screws that fix inner plate obstruct the g80. should be to size thikness of inner plate and verify that the G80 fix over the inner plate.

Guessing you weren't able to make it work. I'm in this situation now and realizing I'll need to remove the plates to get it to work
