Swiftech D5 Vario pump with much vibration.

Hi
I have a Swiftech D5 Vario pump and at max speed setting it vibrates like crazy and the reverb throughout the case is really bad.
I have it set on 2 - 2.5 speed setting at the moment and it's barley noticible with the sound now, however you can still feel the vibration pretty strong.

I have it mounted in a Singularity Computers Protium D5 combo res., which is mounted to the Cooler Master 120mm fans which is mounted to the 240mmx30mm Alphacool radiator in the front of a Fractal Design Define R6

I used to have it in a Bitspower res and pump top combo and when it was in that I couldn't tell if it was on or not, that's how smooth and quite it was.

Not sure which way to go with testing out possible reasons for it, about all ways of testing mean tearing apart the loop. sigh... :-\

So I guess my first question is, does extremely bad vibrating from the D5 mean it's nearing it's EOL?

I've checked for anything loose, don't think it's any of that, this is definitely coming from the pump, you can feel it as you turn the speed dial up and down.

Hi,
For what it's worth I wasn't impressed with a watercool vario
Wasn't worth rma shipping to return it.

Actually, this pump has been great for the last 6 to 7 years I've had it running. Based on the way these things are made, I'm not sure what could be so out of balance.
When I took everything apart to move it to the Protium, I cleaned and checked pump and everything looked new inside.

I guess I'll tear loop apart and check it again when I get a new pump in, which won't be anytime soon.
I'll have to see what temps do in CS Go. CS:S temps are great, upper 20's to low 30's.
Haven't tried Go yet. haha

Please take a picture of the impeller and the ceramic ball. When was it made? I've got a circa 2005 IIRC D5 that vibrates quite a lot in the stock housing, and makes quite lot of electrical noise.

I'm looking for a Thermalright bolt-thru kit

You need to decouple the res from the fans with some mounts that have rubbers between them. Like the stock EK mount or heatkiller fan mount kit.
I don't think the singularty kit has them, but I might be wrong.

And at some RPM's the pumps is quiter than other, so try different settings. Setting 3 is more quiet than 2 on my D5 vario.

Yep, plan on it. When I'm able to order a new D5. This time I plan on a PWM D5.

Yeah, Singularity doesn't include any kind of rubber isolation mounting.

I guess if I get a wild hair up my ..., I may dismantle it all and put everything back in the Bitspower and see what happens, it had two rubber pads to mount on.

Ouch The rubbers are a big improvement since the resonances that are going through the case are a lot louder than the pump noise itself.

Hi,
All my D5's are pwm ek at that
Only thing I've noticed are really nice but a tad over priced but I buy them locally so it's returnable instead of rma shipping worth the extra costs
Pumps are the one thing that will fail eventually best to be able to replace that asap.

6-7 years you got your money out of it and then some
