Hi,
Yeah I don't see how one rma's a pump without having another to use rma's take a while
Fortunately my local micro center carries ek pwm D5 pumps as tops and reservoir combos so replacements are pretty easy to get
They also have in store warranty options too so no shipping other than drive time is involved.

Yeah absolutely, I won't be buying important parts from Aquatuning again, I'll try to buy locally where I can to save the hassle dealing with warranties.

I've been looking around the Australian stores this past week to see if any of them have PWM D5 pumps and so far I've only been able to find one at Singularity Computers and it's $150 :/

All the other stores only seem to carry the pre-assembled pump/res combos and pump/top combos. I'm probably just gonna have to bite the bullet and buy from Singularity when I get the rest of this business sorted out.

I haven't forgotten the advice you guys gave me earlier in the thread and when I do get to pulling everything apart again I'll keep it in mind and report here if I find anything.

New Aquacomputer D5 pump has become noisy after only a couple of weeks

There’s a reason I don’t use AquaComputer & Alphacool....they don’t know customer service and when I had cosmetic issue with Alphacool’s reservoir when the face plate was coming off, it was more replies that it wasn’t installed correctly that’s why it looks off than actually the faceplate which the adhesive failed and I sent pics showing it peeling off. More back and forth with them to get the RMA approved. Once I given an RMA with my vendor, it was returned for a different brand.

As for my D5 pump, it’s was noisy when at full speed. Sent a video of it to the vendor who sent it to EK. EK approved replacement in 2 days and I had a new D5 pump.

As for the Alphacool VPP755, those are Chinese clones of the original D5 pump. Barrow sells the same pump...it has two washers inside on the impeller shaft, not a ceramic bearing and they are on version 3 now I believe. The VPP655 is original Laing D5 with ceramic bearing and only one I’d trust from Alphacool.

Hi,
Spare is needed regardless
Which one will end up as the primary will depend on the original issue of the thread here = which one is quietest

I have a vario d5 too from watercool "spare" it's not worth it to me to rma
The speed dial is messed up somehow turn it all the way past 5 and it actually slows down
Turn it a tad back and it increases

I always carry an spare pump. Remember to test them. I have ordered like three of the aquacomputer d5 next in period of two months. I got one that is defective (hope the 3rd one works). I got to send the defective one back for checking.
