Bad performance from Treadripper EK-Supremacy sTR4 RGB Nickel waterblock

Hello,

Recently I have completed my watercooling build but i am getting high temperatures on my treadripper 4Ghz 1950x similar to presented here:
.

My prime95 load cooling temperatures are reaching 80 degree. I have re-pasted already few time my cpu using diffrent methos and diffrent pastes, but i am achiving more or less same temperatures.

I'm thinking about switching to XSPC: http://www.xs-pc.com/waterblocks-cpu...md-str4-chrome

Now I have two issues this is copeer block and all my fittings etc are nickel, does it matter?

Does anyone has better blocks suggestions ? I'm going with Asus Zenith Extreme Alpha so monoblocks are also possible i think.

Do you also have poor performance with watercooling on EK sTR4 block ?

Thank.

Hi there

Best performing TR4 blocks are Heatkiller TR4, XSPC Raystorm Neo TR4, EK TR4 depends if its older one then these are poor performing blocks

There has been thread over here regarding the EK TR4 blocks and their performance, most of them didn't performed as should there

Hardocp.com and Kyle done pretty good reviews of TR4 waterblock and air coolers as well

Hope this helps

Thanks, Jura

first question depends on what type of coolant you plan to use. I personally use Prestone green antifreeze, at a 80% distilled water, to 20% antifreeze mix, so mixing metals for me, does not matter at all.

the TR4 water block from XSPC, has the highest thermal rating out of the water blocks made for the TR4 CPU's.

yes, the cheap $24 EK TR4 water block, has really poor performance on the TR4 CPU's, that is the reason for it being so cheap.

(..edit..)

...have been using the Heatkiller TR4 (Nickel-plated version) on a 2950X and MSI Meg Creation @ 4.25 GHz since November. Great quality etc. and absolutely no complaints on temps, idle temps in mid-20s C and full load-temps rarely even get to 60 C. In fairness, system has dual pumps and dual 360 rads for the TR, and I covered the IHS w/ MX4 end to end.

Where do i get HEATKILLER® IV PRO for Threadripper™ ACRYL NICKEL from US ?

It looks it's sold out ;-(

I'm using EK SOLID neon green which should be fine, as it's one of the latest coolants.. I think when you mix nickel and copper it's still fine..

The problem is when aluminium comes into play..

I have all my radiators and fitting nickel.

EK-WB str4 has disgusting performance. I feel bad for ordering it.. I have trowed away 100 bucks ;-(

For owners of Heatkiller TR4: This RGB is 12 V?

I ordered my Heatkiller IV TR4 (non-RGB version) directly from the manufacturer's online shop in Germany...got to CDN in about a week, even during the holiday season.

Did they shipped it through DHL? Or they gave you the option to ship it through DE postal service?

They had an express option (could be DHL, don't recall) on their site which I used, but it arrived here (CDN) via a partner carrier.
