Algae or something else?

Hello everyone, I have a question if this is algae or something else in my loop. Water blocks are a ek copper ek supremacy evo and ek full coverage nickel plated copper acetal 980ti water blocks. I have always been using distilled water with drops of PT nuke mixed in. I added a new RAM kit and to do this I needed 30mm extensions on CPU for clearance of tubing over the dominators. I checked my cpu and also notice blackish deep brown on my glass reservoir. I'll link the pictures and let me know what I should do next.

Hi,
Yep pretty much clogged jet plate with what exactly no telling looks like mildew but you don't show what tubing is being used/ black...:/

well at this point it is in the GPU water block, and the radiator. as well, the whole build needs to be broke down, cleaned, and reassembled. I would also suggest a the use of Prestone green antifreeze, at a 20% antifreeze, to 80% distilled water mix in the loop, to prevent this kind of issue from ever happening again.

Don’t use anti freeze if you have any acrylic anywhere. It’ll eat it alive.

Buy mayhems biocide + and inhibitor +

It’s THE best low cost solution on the market right now. 2-3 drops from each bottle, and no more nasties every again.

Mayhems also sells a high test cleaning kit that’ll murder all that biotic nasty

This is not an advertisement. It’s a testimonial from someone that’s been using mayhems for almost a decade with ZERO issues ever. Even after 5 years at one point.

this is a absolute myth, as I have been using Prestone antifreeze for 20 years, with acrylic components in my water loops.

here is a chemical resistance chart that shows Ethylene Glycol as a E, or went 30 days of constant exposure with no damage. Plastic may even tolerate chemical for years

just saying, maybe try not spreading misinformation, as it really does not help newcomers, thanks.

Hi,
Yeah I was under the impression tubing is what might not like anti freeze so changing to some tygon stuff will solve that.
Wish I had originally used 10-15mm fittings so I could of used the thicker hosing but this had to due fittings are expensive x24 for two builds

Interesting, makes me wonder what the true cause ended up being for some of the threads Ive seen over the years. Maybe they weren’t diluting it.

buddy of mine uses a small amount of water wetter in his home made coolant, n he’s supposedly never had an issue either.

In that case -

Just use an otc acid & basic to clean your radiators, don’t wait in line for blitz kits.

However you go about it, your blocks should remain looking near brand new, minus some patina, for years n years when properly maintained against biotics n corrosion. People tend to miss one or the other in the beginning, but heavy dilute antifreeze resolves all that by the jug.

as for the culprit to this myth, it is alcohol based antifreeze, this is why I stated Prestone specifically.

http://rvlife.com/techtipsrv-antifre...-all-the-same/

so using alcohol based antifreeze, is like purring isopropyl alcohol into your water loop, now that will destroy acrylic.

I did a test with 50% wetter water 50% distilled water it took about a month before the reservoir started to fail and three months before it failed completely. that being said I do use two to three table spoons in my water loops as a tweak to get them to flow a little faster. never have had a issue with it at that concentration of at most 10%.

So I have black primochill advanced lrt tubing, that antifreeze to distilled water ratio will be fine with that tubing? Also what do I use the best to clean my blocks and radiators with like a solution. And to get that black stain crud off the glass of my reservoir. Thank you for the help. I just don't want this to happen again. Radiators are alphacool nexxxos full copper. Also found out today new pump VP755 V2 makes loud noise that is a problem. Today just really sucks. But I will fix all these issues with the help.

Hi,
AC Delco doesn't show an ingredient list so no telling what's in it or base is
I just needed some for my truck because that is what was used when my water pump was replaced ac delco gold so that is what I used but under 20% more closer to 10%-15%.
