For the instructions, could anything have been clear or different? We're in the process of analyzing our instruction manuals and updating them accordingly.
I could be wrong but I think I received only 1 size thermal pad, all 1mm. That caused confusion for me as I was trying to follow the directions.

I had to order some off amazon to be sure

Did you get the thin one with multiple little rectangle pieces already pre-cut? And then 2 single piece slightly thicker 1mm pads? There should have been 3 types in all according to the manual.

Personally, I have a old external 5.25" kit (sata/IDE to usb + small power supply with a single molex connector) that I use just for stuff like this. Saved my dumb self a few $$ more than once (got distilled water all over everything because sometimes I cannot think properly. Wound up air drying stuff for 24hrs a few times, but no computer for a day or two > no computer until having enough money to replace what died.
Personally, I took a cheap $20 psu I got off Amazon. Did a little modding ... I.e. snipped the power leads on the 24pin and soldered in a small switch with an extra 18" of wireing, then terminated everything but a single molex and sata cable. I use that as my watercooling test psu.

On a side note, you can also pick up a 24pin adapter that shorts the power lead for you allowing you to use power switch on psu, with adapter for 3 or 4 pin fan connecter you are golden.

Just my 2c
