How many actual D5 failures have you been reading about versus aftermarket D5 PWM modded pumps , Swiftech MCP series other than the 655, Alphacool VPP755, or SPC-60 MX pumps?

There's a reason the Laing/Xylem/Lowara D5 pump is the standard for open watercooling loops.
There are also many reasons it is widely used in critical applications in a large number of fields from medical, to solar panels to commercial HVAC and jockey pumps. One of the major points is the reliability and longevity of the D5 design.

Yeah....the little girl hentai avatar is really creeping me out....

Op is overthinking it. Due to the packaging decision of current CPUs with their shrinking die size resulting in immense heat density, there isn't much one can do with ambient cooling to counter it. The heat transfer itself now is the bottleneck, and will need dramatically different packaging designs to alleviate it, such as the JetCool method:

Engineer all you want, but the precision required now to achieve any kind of meaningful impact requires a lab, with lots of money, and maybe some new magical materials too.

Thanks again for the replies. Good links to get to research more. From a couple of benchmarks i've seen Aqua Computer makes good products as well right?

+1 for Heatkiller. They are beefy and well made. Holding one will really make you appreciate the craftmanship. The benchmarks dont lie either, good stuff.
