MO-RA3 questions

I am looking to build a new system based around a Ryzen 3700x/3800x and a nvidia 2070 super. I have more than enough radiators sitting around to be more than overkill but was looking at going a different route. I was looking at either the 360 or 420 MO-RA3 in LT variant. It seems they are not in stock at my usual supply stores. Are they end of life or just hard to find? I already have enough 360 fans but am thinking I would like the 420 more. Would a single D5 be enough for 2 watercool blocks and the MO-RA3?

Hello,

I do not have the MO-RA3 but i do have the Aquacomputer AMS 840 full copper radiator, both the AMS and the MO-RA3 have a similar round tube design meaning they are more restrictive then your normal radiator. That being said i am very pleased with the AMS 840 it keeps both my I7-6800K and GTX 1070 SC at very low temps this thing cools like a beast and set all my fans at 600RPM for silence the AMS rads are better suited for slow RPM fans.

I am using a single D5 res/top combo and did some initial testing i hooked up a Koolance flowmeter at setting 3 i got 1.26GPM.
Since your planning for an external set up you could also look at the AMS 840 radiator if you cant find a MO-RA3. Some pics of the rad and my setup:

Im using Mo-Ra 420 and 1cpu+1VGA block . I have 2 D5 in series (both on 3. speed ) , but one of them isnt realiable. Sometimes it just doesnt start . When 1 pump is working only , my flow is very low ,i can barely see the water moving in res .
Mo-Ra is too flow restrictive , i would never use it with 1 pump.

My recommendation is : D5 + cheap Phobya DC 260 or 220 in series , or if money isnt isssue ; just 2x D5

Just very hard to find. Heatkiller has them in stock on their site but doesn’t look like anyone else has any. Am looking at adding the 420 Pro model to my loop.

As others have said I’d suggest dual pumps if adding one of these are they are said to be very restrictive

I have an extra D5 around. I would just need an extra top for it. Do you think the 420 is worth the added cost over the 360?

Depends, what type of fans do you plan on using? For me it would be Noctua’s and I’d go with the 420 just for the fact the fans are cheaper then the 120 models. Plus with the 420 model you can go with bigger fans as well if you want, as high as 220mm.

I’d also suggest getting the Pro model as well for push/pull configuration.

I have a bunch of PWM Eloops in 120mm I planned on using if I went with that size. I have 4 140 eloops so I would have to get 5 more if going that route. I do not think I will go push/pull though.

My vote is for 420 . 1 set fan is more than enough , this rad is only 9fpi dense ,no need push/pull .

I have the 420 with (4) NF-A20 fans with a heatkiller reservoir and pwm d5 going into my pc via heatkiller pci pass through to a 2080ti and 6700k water block.

I have zero bends, all my fittings are standard compression fittings. When I game I just put the pump to 100% and leave the fans at 400rpm. Loudest part of my build is the capacitors in the pump and in the GPU.

I think water cool recommended the nf-a20 fans over 9 140mm fans because the FPI is so low to really make a difference and another user on a German form tested push/pull with NF-A20 and it was just 1c difference.

If your going to get one or the other then just get the 420. I ordered mine from watercool's website and everything took less than a month to get to me.

For 1 cpu and 1 gpu block I think a single D5 is fine, granted I have no bends, but I do have 30ft (total) of tubing from my rad to my pc.
