Loop issue and right liquid choice this time

Hello guys ,

I had for years the phobya's 360lt kit but with the full nickel Ek's x99 waterblock , my bad i was running it with distilled water and a silver kill coil.

Lately i ordered a rtx2080 Seahawk ek X on a discount due to the super edition release , so i ordered from ek 1 more new 40mm triple rad with their vector fans , new fittings , tubing , finally a drain valve etc... I am targeting on max overclocks + keeping my system silent which i never had before with my helicopter windforce gpu.

I opened my nickel block and found some blue/greenish stuff in it , it completely cleaned very easily so i dont think any real damage was actually done to the cpu block with the silver kill coil but i really worry about my rad as i cant open it , could this thing have infected my rad and then spread to my new materials?

Also what liquid should i use this time? I have some unused Phobya ZuperZero clear 1000ml liquid but it shouldt be enough + 5lt distilled water , could i possibly use the whole phobya liquid and then full it with distilled water?

Just plain distilled and Mayhem's Biocide and Inhibitor. Otherwise Mayhem's and only Mayhem's fluids. They are the only name you should ever look at for fluids. Everything else is either a rebranding or a pale imitation

I'd also suggest running Blitz kit part 2 at the very least to clean it, if not also running part one.

You can give the loop a clean out with Mayhems Blitz Part 2. That should be enough to get rid of any residue in the rads.

Having gone through a number of coolants, I never use anything other than Mayhems X1 clear any longer. I've heard a lot of great things about Koolance 702 but have never used it myself.

Yeah....the little girl hentai avatar is really creeping me out....

Hi,
Yep lots of bad advice going on for distilled and kill coil go figure the internet and all

They haven't shown up yet so best options already posted

Only onther thing I might add is get the stuff from performance pc not amazon
Amazon price gouger OutletPC especially avoid or buy from Newegg 20-30% cheaper but even PPC is cheaper than that and you can use OCN-88 for a little more discount.

Thanks for the replys guys , sadly i live in Greece and theres only 1 store that provides mayhems stuff. The blitz kit costs 25euros and 1000ml of X1 clear liquid costs 10 euros. Thats a bit too expensive i think , isnt there another way to clean my rad?

Also how much liquid do i need for 2 x 360lt rads and a big reservoir ?

Is the MAYHEMS BIOCIDE + 15ML + Distilled water as good as the X1? That comes way cheaper.

Most Correct Answer ^^^

Yes, there are other routes you can go. Borax n stuff, or pretending that distilled doesn't wreck your loop with long term use.

really though, just get the damn drops (BOTH BOTTLES) & properly clean & stabilize the loop.

from there, just check Ph every few months & follow instructions on dropper bottles.

your parts will come out looking damn near brand new. PERIOD. No scrubbing, soaking, or chem treating, or any of that other stuff these "distilled onry works just fine" folks deal with, without admitting it.

R.I.P. Zawarudo, may you OC angels' wings in heaven.

You are completely right , everyone was like "you will be fine with distilled + kill coil" but here you go after 4 years... Its not that bad but still i like everything to be perfect. So blitz kit and both drops it is....

But just to be 100% sure

1) Will it be fine with the clear ek's duraclear soft tubing?

2) is it ok with my full nickel cpu waterblock?

I was actually looking into this. If you could answer these questions it would be most helpful.

I can find various PH test kits to TEST the water with, but if there is an imbalance in the PH how do I TREAT the water?
What chemicals are safe to add to distilled water to adjust PH?
Or do you just flush and refill if PH is to far off?
What range should I be looking to keep the system within?

Thanks!

Good question and i'll have it too !

I tried regulating the PH of the Ultra Pure Water from Alphacool and ended up adding too much. You only need a knife-tip of citric acid, otherwise you end up with a PH too acidic as mine with PH 3.5

BTW citric acid is a chemical right?

Citric acid Wikipedia german
Spoiler!

Citric acid Wikipedia english

Anyone knows what this chelator for metal ions means ?
Citric acid is a chelator for metal ions.

Used coolants : Alphacool Ultra Pure Water[UPW] 5l canister and a cap of Phobya Zuper zero clear for nearly ~8 yrs.
I measured the PH with a professional ph meter only Alphacool Ultra Pure Water and it had a PH of 8.2 !! Keep in mind i measeured PH before Adding Zuper zero clear into it.
The label on canister says a PH from 6.0-7.0 !
My guess is that probably the PH value has increased over the years in the canister.
A newly bought 5ltr canister from Aquacomputer DP Ultra had a PH ~5.8 which is slightly acidic .
Bought a fresh distilled water canister with 5ltrs yesterday and also measured it with a PH ~5.0 .
ATM i didn't measured the Phobya Zuper zero clear ,comes later !

Questions:
What PH would be recommended for watercooling-Parts in general ?
What PH would be recommended for watercooling-Pumps like a Lowara[formerly known as Laing http://lowara.com/pumps-circulators/...with-dc-motor/ ] D5 or DDC ?
What PH would be recommended for watercooling-Tops with POM/ACETAL and PMMA[also known as acryl] ?
What PH would be recommended for watercooling-Tops with Nickel plated blocks ?
More acidic or alkaline ?

PAY ATTENTION:

Take care when doing ph regulating or handle with cooling-fluids , i protect myself by wearing a Goggle 3M SF403AF and Uvex NF33 Gloves.
Wash your hands before and after handling with fluids.
