PSU not jumping XRES D5.

I rebuilt my loop this weekend. I use my spare PSU with a 24 pin jumper and a cable to power the XRES D5 pump when refilling. On the third fill of the reservoir the PSU would no longer power the XRES D5, nothing. Res wouldn't empty and no pump noise. I resorted to finish filling with the machines main PSU. That turned out to be OK because I am leak free but I am still wondering and a bit concerned as to why the spare PSU stopped powering the pump. I'm worried I may have accidentally dropped water into it. The PSU fan is working when I switch it on. Is there another way to verify the PSU still works and is there any reason why the PSU might have stopped powering the pump in jumper mode? I've seen some comments that an air bubble or restriction might cause the the water to not move due to low pump speed in jumper mode by I also though that the newer D5's ran at full RPM in jumper mode and I could not hear the pump at all...
