Can't tell if troll or not. Comparing engineering of cars and airplanes (where result of failure is death to one or more people) to leaving off a motherboard standoff?

It all comes down to understanding...

I do not understand the forces at play on the wheel nuts of my car travelling at 100km/hr. Therefor I do not feel comfortable removing 2 out of 5 wheel nuts and then driving on the highway.

I do not understand the forces at play on the jet engine of a plane, therefor I do not feel comfortable removing one of the blades of the impeller and then taking off.

I do, however, fully understand the forces at play on the screws securing my motherboard, and am comfortable selectively removing some of them.

MB standoffs are there to prevent a short between your case and the MB. You can easily get away with not using all of them.

With most of the higher end MB’s you have to take them apart to get access to every standoff hole so it’s very common to not use them all.
