Dual Pump

I recently assembled this build:

I've been reading this article, I've had an idea and I'd like opinions. In the article they are assembled in series two different pumps, a D5 and a DDC (the output from one to the inlet of another) working perfectly, doubling the pressure and getting 30% more flow. But what I value most is that if a pump breaks, the circuit continues to run, you get redundancy of failures:

https://martinsliquidlab.wordpress.c...vs-parallel/2/

The thing is, I have the D5 of my previous build in a box, and I've thought about taking advantage of it. If you look at this picture:

It doesn't seem at all complicated to mount the D5 with a bracket and a top on that fan, unplug the output from the DDC that goes to the VGA and connect it to the input of the D5, and it's to the VGA.

What do you think, considering that I don't have to make the expense to buy the extra pump, I already have it?

Thanks

I do not suggest mixing pumps, but in this case after looking over your loop, I do not see that hurting this loop. so for redundancy it will provide that, as for increasing you total flow rate? it should increase that, at least by a little.

seems like a terrible idea to mismatch pumps. A.) you'd hear speed wobbles ALL the time, even after trying to sync them.

MCP35x2 is $200 for 2x PWM high speed DDCs, and the second one does much better than 30% added flow. (they also last a decade)

if you do go forward with the D5, don't put them next to each other in serial. put anywhere else in the loop. you're already losing the perf. bonus of not having a serial top on identical pumps, thus why the added flow is so low in dude's testing. My 2nd pump nearly doubles my flow potential

but muh a e s t h e t i c

they seem like a pita to work with due to the limited water volume. am I mistaken? Once i'm done putting everything together, the last thing i wanna do is fight glugging and air sucking pumps. (bet most distro pumps will live shorter lives due to all the air they likely pull during fill)

and how do you prevent back flow when cutting power? (normal tube res have a down spout)

Hi,
Doesn't even have enough power to get the bubbles out
Some distro plates are compatible with D5 pumps you just didn't get one.

Get two D5's one with reservoir combo and one D5 top and unplug the cheapo pump on the distro and it will just be a pass through thing.

dual d5 is pricey man. that MCP35x2 is the lifetime value KING! half the price, n only a bit louder on full tilt, which you don't really need cuz dual pumps.

@30%x2 i maintain well over 2gpm thru 4 radiators, n cpu. Each GPU chops about .5 off of that.

I've heard somewhere from supplier whey back few years ago that if you run 2 pumps at even slightly different speeds, one or the other could fail prematurely, let alone mixing 2 differently operating pumps.
