Pretty close runs after modding which should not be necessary.
Within Margin of error.
I’m still in heat up and cool down phase with best spread I have achieved without changing anything still being about 15C and high of 86 which beat the crap out or high of 97 from yesterday. Maybe EK needs to give you a job. I wasn’t a big fan of the face of the cold plate from the first time I saw it. Years of trial and error have shown me at least that smooth and shiny gives better performance.

Good job with modding but I’m not going there. It either works as advertised out of the box or it doesn’t. I’m giving it every opportunity to get the best I can out of it but so far without modding it’s falling short about 6 C whether it’s the blender long bench or just a hard run in either the classroom or Barcelona render animated. 15 mins, 30 mins , an hour doesn’t make any difference

Hi,
I don't mind tinkering obviously thought it was part of the game
Ek blocks just need a little more tweaking on the mount mainly and polishing the cold plate the "bullseye ribbed for her pleasure" just wasn't cutting the mustard for me frankly

Without tinkering sigV2 and both ek version acetal copper & nickle top would be fails out the box and 120.us optimus foundation would be the all around winner

As you know optimus cold plates are like mirrors nickle or copper = sweet

My Sig V2 required no change other than yanking the springs out. That initial mount was nearly impossible to do because as soon as you pushed down the thumbnut far enough to catch you are fighting the opposite corner. To keep it down. You can ensure a good seat like that as you should be able to lay the block on then start all mounts loosely before going back and starting the snug to torqued process. Once I Threw the springs in the trash it was all good.

Difference is mine was factory direct and hadn’t been messed with by anyone else.

The HK IV nickel plated full copper block Mount was a dream. Perfection. Can’t speak for anything but solid tips as that’s all I run, no give. Not that far behind and still a good product and a better performance to price ratio.

Modding was very much part of the game when we had to make our own. When you spend $200+ that sucker should jump from the box, apply its own Tim and torque to exact specifications while you grab a beer and watch it connect itself into your loop and self bleed. I liked the old days when you started with a bare FLAT die and bare flat piece of copper plate and a milling machine and drill press.

Hi,
lol the only dream I had with Heatkiller 4 pro mount was nightmare
Bolts washer and spring okay that plus keeping the block centered with nothing there to do that beside sausage fingers, that was a sad joke seeing they did conventional studs... on 1151 socket.
Made no sense at all I used a ek evo mount and or bitspower mount easily no alterations just a simple switch.

Heres what I got today.

First two was just after first boot. For the record nothing is disabled, no diagnostic start up just the usual background running on minimal install, a lot hasnt been installed yet on a fresh install of windows. Its still sitting on the box with an air cooled 1080 and plumbed up to an EK 480PE 45 mm with 4 120 mag lev fans running full bore. Not measuring flow or liquid temp.
Single D5 EK 140 res/pump combo that I have laying around. Far stretch from my usual loop but a 480 rad and single D5 with nothing but the cooler and rad.

First two were as I left it last night. ambient is 24C.
Second two I cranked it into the stops without going ballistic with the last being an hour and 25 minutes of classroom. Core spread is a little wider than the Optimus and the temps are lagging by 3-4C.

One more try of pulling it, looking at the spread, putting thinner insert back.
If it doesnt do any better Im putting the optimus back, doing some runs with the same set up and if it shows better Im putting it back in my case with the optimus and calling it a day.

OK, put 5 back in and did the less is more paste job with the pea in the middle. The spread was worse than the first pic. Still more pressure shown towards bottom of socket. But a smaller point circle of thin.

I used the hydronaught they sent with it this time. A started with screws flush to top first, do a few heat runs then run them in. I’m not Overly optimistic but I’ll run it because I said I would.

I was honestly hoping it would be better than the Sig V2. If I get bored and decide to go there when I get my RVIE socket fixed or get a different board I’ll go to making the cold plate shiny and see if it can tame the heat on my 7900X that’s a good performer just runs hot, like up in the 90s for a 4.9 GHz OC and will hit that 105 surely at 5.1 or more.

That was always my problem with that chip. Loop cool, everything cool but couldn’t get the heat off the die in the first place with an EK EVO. Never tried the HK on it.

Just hit the 87 mark on fishy cat.
