Thanks skupples. I plan to run at reduced speed. The dual pumps are for redundancy; it flows just fine on one pump. I've got the Aquaero 6LT to control fans and pump speeds. Four temp sensors to monitor the points between GPU, 1st radiator, CPU, and 2nd radiator. Plus the AquaComputer flow sensor. It's going to be my work machine, so reliability is important to me.

As already mentioned, there are diminishing returns at higher flow rates, but it wont hurt anything to run it flat out. D5's are cooled by the liquid so it will add more heat and use more electricity running them faster.

I had a fixed speed D5 Swiftech MCP655-B from 2010 that finally died last year. Reliability at any speed isn't really a big concern for D5 or DDC pumps.

Sounds like you made up your mind to run them slower, which I think is the best move. Even though the pumps are reliable running flat out, if you don't need the extra flow it just makes sense to save a bit of electricity.

sounds great

yeah, just run them both right above lowest speed (on the Aquaero it'll be somewhere in the 35-45%)

my MCP35x2 is pushing 10 years now. I'd like to say thank you to Mayhems, the Academy, and say screw you to the distilled water purists in the watercooling mainthread!

the only rule of thumb I've gotten with DDCs is they can over-heat if you run them too fast in a small/low restriction loop. i'd just add a mechanical high flow meter from aquacomputer when you get a minute, and make sure you aren't going over 2GPM. unnecessary wear, tear, & heat.
