well this is a good question. I do use the eraser putty, in fact that is what is in-between the water blocks. eraser putty goes on as a soft putty but hardens to a substance more like foam. this works great between the water blocks so the hot water blocks do not effect the cold ones. than I covered the entire cold side water loop in two layers of foam. finally I covered the entire cold side water loop all the way to the chill box, in a 1/4" clay. the clay seals the cold side water loop away from the ambient temperatures in my room. it also keeps things like the water pumps, cool, and dry. as they stay around the same temp as the cold side water.

I use molding clay, it is more expensive than normal clay. to give some reference I did use between 50-60 LBS of clay to cover the cold side water loop.

well with my last two system I ended up using two GTX580's on each build. I did try a 4 way build with the 580's, but I could not really justify the build as almost no games utilized that configuration of the cards.

so with this build I decided to go ahead and get a second GTX1080 ti for the build as about half of the games I have will utilize the duel card setup. I hope that more of the new games will take advantage of the Nvlink that is being developed today.

vulkan has shown promising dual GPU stuffs, and seems to be getting more and more air time(RDR2 dual GPU works in vulkan, for example). NVidia has also finally started to work with checkerboard rendering, so that'll be showing up in a live driver at some point in the future

I have high hopes really, as there's no other way top tier VR is gonna work really damn well. high frames, at high resolutions, x2ish? so hopefully SLIVR and similar techs keep advancing as well.

ok so I guess I should give a time frame and some understanding as to why it has been so long. I have about $100 extra a month to spend on what ever I like. I have spent the last 10 months saving up that money for the purchase of a new video card. I ended up being able to get two video cards for this build, but now I am broke. so I need another $600 to $1000 to finish getting all the parts I need for a new build. this means it will be another 6 to 10 months, before I will have the new build together, and running inside the chill box.

ok, so because this is a chilled water build I have to remove the water blocks from the video cards and replace the thermal paste, and pads, with artic silver ceramic. this is because normal thermal paste and pads do not react well in cold environments. the paste becomes dry, and the pads become hard and brittle. so much for getting the video cards, with water blocks already attached.

well I just got a second HWL 240mm radiator for the chill box, this way they are the same type of radiator. as for the alpha cool 240mm radiator, I will be adding that to my internet computer. so my internet build will have a total of 4 radiators, when I do the next upgrade to that build. I am adding a total of two alpha cool 240mm radiators, and replacing the bitspower reservoir, with a water cool glass reservoir. so my internet computer, will have the two 360mm radiators it has now, and two new 240mm alpha cool radiators, added to it's water loop.

my internet computer is below, I will start a new thread in water cooling, when I do these upgrades.
