550$ only !!

it's very tempting to upgrade my 7970's to R9 290Xs at this price even i don't really need to because i game on a single 1080p panel

actually you will benefit from r9 290x, even on 1080p there are games that can maximize it, bf4, crysis 3 . . .
and it can give u a stable 60 fps minimum on all games at their highest details, add to that the simplicity, consistency and better frame times you will get with a single card, my advise is: go ahead, upgrade smile.gif

note: but why not wait and see what the gtx 780ti will offer?

the 7970s (2), i am sure, are faster than a single 290X.

btw, the 780ti is only 3GB. not worth it if it is around $600.2cents.gif

Am I the only one who is a bit disappointed by the results?

Yes the price is nice, and it will surely drop as time goes by (maybe even sooner than later due to the 780ti coming out soon).

But...

1. The card does not beat the 780 clock per clock, and the 780ti will probably be even more ahead. :/
2. 95C load temps? O.o
3. 63+db load noise? D:

I'm sure that aftermarket cooling solutions will iron out most problems, but I was still hoping for more performance.

Anyway, I'm glad that it's finally released, the high end market will be more competitive now.

imo a $580 7990 malta card + 8 free games is still a better buy.
