Have I been Bamboozled

Hi guys,

I purchased a Sapphire RX 580 Limited Edition on Ebay. A dual-bios card. The seller said the bioses are stock, and the card has never been used for mining.

Now, I'm not sure if the seller is a truly a trickster, This might just be gpuz / software reporter's problem.

It's suppose to have a 1411mhz silent bios, and a 1430mhz boost bios. But both the bioses run 1430mhz.

There's nothing to compare it to, so if anyone here could help me compare them to the original bios if they also have this card, I'd be grateful.

Thx for the motivational speak AlphaC. I understand what you're saying. It just doesn't feel good to potentially having been lied to.

The links are all for the boost bioses, and my card's boost bios checksum matches the micron one for that. Are there any reference for the silent bios of this card ?

The seeming lack of the -Silent Bios- from my Dual Bios, seems to indicate the card had been modded.

The BIOS are both stock though. My bet they flashed the wrong one?
Either way it doesn't seem like the GPU is broken right?
I'd take an under volted mining card over an over volted gaming card though.

I just want to get to the bottom of this. The boost bios -seems- to be stock.

The silent bios is not running as it should and at the wrong frequency from the Sapphire spec sheet. Which is why I suspect they've modified this bios slot. Unfortunately techpowerup doesn't have the silent bios cached.

Did you try asking the seller if they'd modded the BIOS? A miner wouldn't have modded the BIOS in a bad way if at all. There is a sweet spot for voltage/TDP, clock speed and memory speed that they try to find, it's no uncommon for them to run a card around 80% TDP.

If modding the BIOS into a silent BIOS is beyond you just ask Sapphire for the file.
