MSI Vega 56

Hi,

Couldn't believe it when I saw this MSI VEGA 56 @ around 250 - Maybe crypto mining has calmed down? - While back VEGA 64 was 450 but this MSI VEGA 56 seems a lot cheaper than previously - OK it's a reference design but it must be quite good right? - eg no hidden flaws in there is there?

I think the card is alright. I know someone who bought it and he has no complaints except it is loud. I saw this in newegg for $259 with 3 free games, really good deal.

In UK this is £259 but it's the better deal on a Vega 64 - I've also seen a Sapphire Vega 56 Pulse for 273 which is probably better than the MSI offering.

About a year ago the Power Color & Sapphire Vega 64 was around 450-500 - But these seem to be disappearing, there are a few Sapphire Vega 64's available but the Power Color seems to have sold out and gone so they must be produced in limited numbers.

For discreet graphics the Nvidia GT710 GDDR5 2GB this is a good card - whilst XFX has an RX550 4 GB SLIM single slot design and I wanted to buy one of these but it's not available so maybe there will be a successor to this - But this is for other uses

Vega 56 Pulse has a slightly weaker PCB than reference but that isn't going to matter to most people as the cooler is far better and the reference silent BIOS is locked down to 150W. The limits are usually the GPU and HBM not so much the VRM on the card.

That said, the MSI Vega 56 with a Morpheus air cooler or waterblock is going to be better than Vega 56 Pulse but cost at least $100 more than a MSI Vega 56 out of the box.

Out of the box the Vega 56 Air Boost has 165W power limit : https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/...56-8176-171101

hello,
I got them at that price and got two of them, I found that the cards have Hynix hbm.
the power offset allows for more than the 165w limit. the cooler that come with them runs at stock with the max of 48% speed, gives a lot of headroom for cooling, but is loud.
as for overclocking them , I have no idea, you set stuff and it ignores you is as far as I got with vega.
