Shutting/Restarting while Installing Program/Driver

Hi OC Fam,

I just bought a 2nd-hand RX 580 yesterday. I tried installing AMD's Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.4.1 .. When I click install (there are 2 options: did both) computer would shut off right away and restart.

I tried it with the video on and off. it still shuts down.

On another note, NVidia drivers were uninstalled and installed with no issues. Just with this driver? I tried older versions of the AMD drivers still the same result.

Would this be a hardware issue or software? I doubt the video card is bad? It posts just fine. Please advise, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advanced.

I would try DDU is safe mode and then try installing the AMD drivers. If it keeps refusing to work then, unless you have another computer to test with, the card is faulty.

That's what I thought at first. Faulty gpu? I will try the DDU option and see what happens. If it does fail again then I will take it back to him. (RMA process?)

Agree with this 100%

Bought a 'dead' 290X (for display purposes) that does the same thing. No drivers = stable enough to install windows. Drivers = instant crash.

Where did you buy it from/with? If you got it on ebay/used paypal, it should be an 'easy' return even if the seller is making it difficult.

So, now on with my reply.

I have a question: what power supply do you have? What's the exact brand and model?
