I'm not trying to downplay any of these issues. I know they are all real complaints and really need to be looked at by the AMD driver team. With that said, I found that water cooling, the registry fix, and setting my min voltage to 750mv made my clocks and FPS much more stable.

My Wattman settings:
Voltage - 750mV min, 1205mV max
Frequency - 2150MHz (slider all the way to the right)
Power Limit - +50%
Memory - 910MHz

My graphics settings:
Enhanced Sync - On
Frame Rate Target Control - Off

With these fixes and settings, my core temp peaks at 56c and hotspot/junction at 96c after 5 minutes of Furmark. That's the point where my rad fans kick up and the temps fall back to 53c/93c and stay there until I close Furmark. Clocks stay over 2000MHz and peak around 2100MHz in every 3D program I've tried so far. My graphs in Wattman are much smoother now, with none of the wild spikes I was seeing with older drivers, no fixes, and the stock blower.

Thanks for the input. This is valuable insight to how things are going on your end. And glad to see that MSI A/B is working for you. I knew others were using it since it was updated. Do you notice any difference/issues with AB vs wattman?

I also found a 2 more potential fixes:

1.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comment...and_freesynch/
https://www.monitortests.com/forum/T...on-Utility-CRU

You are basically putting freesync 1st, at the top of the list.
And it does work. This looks like a registry edit as my freesync status drops back down when I uninstalled, DDU safemode, reinstalled 19.10.1. I wanted to confirm if this works and it does.

Basically it improves smoothness and removes any color/brightness issues you may experience in game. It doesn't completely eliminate stuttering though. This is were we go to #2.

2. (I personally don't recommend this last resort unless you are experiencing issues you know are specific to your monitor)
Open Up Radeon Settings > Display -> Specs -> Override
Set Adjust Voltage Swing 1
Set Adjust PreEmphasis 2

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comment..._pulse_5700xt/
https://community.amd.com/thread/212160

I haven't tried this one yet. As I haven't found any other information from AMD about this Override features yet. But some are saying it removed the stuttering.

I'm not using AB, just Wattman.

I saw those as well, but I haven't tried them. I basically just googled "navi driver issues" and worked my way through the "fixes" until I found something that worked for me. My next project is to try to find some fixes/workarounds for the in-game overlay. When it works, it works great, but every time I open a menu in-game or hit a loading screen, the overlay either stops responding or turns off. When it turns itself off the hotkey to open it stops working too. The only way I've found to get it back is to close out whatever game I'm playing and start it back up.

If that is in regards to my problem with the overlay, I'm currently running in 3.0. I have a vertical mount bracket for my GPU, and it can't handle 4.0, so I had to bump it back. 3.0 is still plenty for this card though, and I haven't seen any difference as far as clocks or refresh rate between the 2 modes.

I too get this. So you are not alone. If you notice FPS won't show up too. It happens when you turn it on and off a lot.

The overlay along with the FPS counter only work in exclusive full screen. Haven't had any issues after figuring that out since the first week of the overlay release date.

OP says he has a problem but refuses to tell anyone what it is, troll thread. The overlay has had and still has issues.

The overlay works, but the FPS counter in the Overlay is missing. And it's random.
I can repeat this. Use the OSD hotkey at desktop. OSD will show up (at desktop) without FPS counter. This is what I see in games at times (no FPS counter).

I can't say if this will work on R7.

One way to test this problem is to compare the 5700 card with an RX580 series card. (or some RX5XX or RX4XX card series)

The RX580 card has a constant core clock during gaming. It only throttled once you hit temp limits or power limits. Unlike the 5700xt which is constantly switching the core clocks even when you are under temp limits and power limits.

Somebody could compare the gpu usage under both cards in the same scenarios. So run the same game in the same scene under a scenario in which you know the 5700 throttles the core. Take note of the gpu usage.

Then run the same scene using the RX580 card. The core clock will not throttle, but the gpu usage may dip down in the same manner as the 5700 card.

This will give us a more understanding on whether the problem is the boosting in 5700 card, or if the problem is overall with amd drivers.
