Yeah, the next gen cards have me worried I might of jumped the gun / excited as well although it is all hype until it is for sale.
If you really want a good budget option then pick up a used vega, they go for around $200 on ebay but you can find them cheaper if you really search. I got a Vega 56 for a family member recently for $175, it works pretty good after some manual tuning / overclocking. only around 10-15% worse performance then the 5700 but of course it uses more power fully loaded.
Interestingly though, it actually seems to use less power under all but the most demanding conditions. It is power hungry when pushed but actually quite nice when not working to the max (such as hitting the 144fps cap in games)
It is also much more efficient in windows using only ~6w to my 5700's ~27w. The inability to have multiple monitors without leaving the low power state on modern video cards is crazy to me, Vega can stay in low power, why not the 5700?
Screw the latest 2020 AMD drivers, I tried them but switched back to the 2019 drivers. The 2019 drivers are fine, I have no real issues with them and the only things I miss from the 2020 drivers are the image sharpening adjustment really. Otherwise the 2019 drivers are just better.
I like the histogram on the 2019 drivers for each game, very handy for checking things after a crash or when you are tweaking overclock settings.
