AMD Driver Issues

It came from a trusted seller, and the card mostly works, so I assume the card is good, so for now let's operate w/ that assumption.

I have reinstalled Windows 3 times now, updated all the patches, ran DDU probably 2 or 3 times (successfully), and the card works just fine until I put any sort of load on it. Civ 5, Startcraft II, even the Windows Experience Index or w/e it's called, as soon as those run for more than 5 seconds my whole computer crashes, donezo. I legit have to power the whole thing down and power it on for it to come back. So anyone here have any ideas? Again, steps I've done every time.

Reinstall Windows to my SSD.
Apply all Windows updates.
Disable download or install of any Windows updates automatically.
Run DDU successfully.
Install latest AMD software downloaded direct from AMD.
Reboot Windows and run small tasks (browse web, bring up Twitch/YouTube) to verify all working.
Run any sort of game/benchmark and watch computer die.

This is pretty much my last resort, it's been almost 3 days now and I'm tired of fighting with it to get it to work, but I hate the idea of it sitting here not working and laughing at me. Help please...?

Sounds like a power issue Which AMD card are you using? If it has two power connectors are you using individual cables?

Not sure it's a power issue, I'm running a 900 W PSU (ignore the sig) and it's been running an OC'd GTX 580 which takes more power under load and under idle than a 7970. But to be fair, it's like a 10 year old PSU so while it's served me faithfully perhaps it's served its purpose?

::edit:: you know what tho? Come to think of it, I am running both plugs on a single line vs two different. So maybe there is something to the power issue, where the one line/rail can't handle the load of a 7970 but it can of the 580, which only took an 8 pin + 6 pin vs two 8 pins...?

Well, it's definitely not a PSU issue or power issue anymore. I just got the Seasonic Focus GX-850 ( http://www.jonnyguru.com/blog/2017/0...-power-supply/ b/c TBH i needed a PSU upgrade anyway, and a power issue from a cheap 10 year old OCZ unit seemed as likely a culprit as anything to this point) and as soon as I run the Windows Experience Score, or any other sort of benchmark the machine immediately crashes. awesome.

If something that gives a simple heavy load like fur makes it crash quickly then it is highly likely the GPU is DOA.

Have you checked the temps? Being a used card, it could have had a bad TIM/cooler installation at some point.
