At launch the 1060 beat the 580 in most titles and now it's hard to find a game that a 1060 wins in (and in most the 580 destroys the 1060, in RDR2 the 580 is 25% faster).

deal with possibly garbage drivers for ~year or pay the NVIDIA tax, pick your poison

Those are the options. Sad, huh?

Posting up Zosma validations?

Person after person saying the 5700 XT crashing in games. You know why? Because the card is not locked down to any one stock core or volts. AMD gave each card a mind of its own and they do whatever they want on stock when it comes to clocks, volts and fan speed without any software control.

This card will also tell you in short order if your PSU is crap.

My card was also exhibiting instability with a poor PSU and when I finally received my new one, I did not blink.

Straight away I looked up what the stock clocks and volts were suppose to be and locked those in the 1st MSI AB profile and enabled the fan profile otherwise the card just cooked itself and these measures worked to stabilize the behaviour of the card. Then I did some overclocking and locked a none and an extreme OC profiles.

All was well after that!

As Pook said, some models of some brands have well-established thermal issues. From what I have read, it's usually do to poor contact between the heat sink/cooler and the chips. But how is your case ventilation?

Something to think about and look into is to under volt/clock the card. Some of the cards actually work far better that way because AMD set the voltages too damn high.
